This song brings back a lot of memories. It was my girlfriend at the time and my song. We were 16, I had just bought the album and played it for her. She said this is our song! I always remembered that. I’m 45 now and we somewhat had stayed friends and in touch but not often. Tonight she died of cancer. I feel for her husband and kids. I played this tonight loud in my living room as tribute to her. RIP Sarah.

I think music is timeless. We could say the same of a Tchaikovsky's symphony from hundred years old. There either is good music or bad music. The thing is nowadays there is fewer good music, cause humanity is evolving a more materialist world as time goes by, so there is a gradual loss of the interest in ART itself. :(

Such and incredibly powerful and touching song. I've been listening to Bon Jovi almost nonstop for the past month. Exactly 1 month and 2 days ago, my husband, best friend, and soulmate of 22 years suddenly and unexpectedly passed away. Bon Jovi was ALWAYS our favorite artist and this was one of our songs. I miss him so much and the music makes me feel a bit closer to him. I had been with my husband since I was only 18 years old, literally my entire adult life and over half my life. I'm just so lost and don't know how to go on without him by my side. This music allows me to escape that anxiety, fear, and worry, even if just for a few minutes.

Lyrics : Sitting here wasted and wounded At this old piano Trying hard to capture The moment this morning I don't know 'Cause a bottle of Vodka's still lodged in my head And some blonde gave me nightmares Think that she's still in my bed As I dream about movies They won't make of me when I'm dead With an ironclad fist I wake up and french kiss the morning While some marching band keeps its own beat in my head While we're talking About all of the things that I long to believe About love, the truth, what you mean to me And the truth is Baby you're all that I need I wanna lay you down in a bed of roses For tonight I'll sleep on a bed of nails Oh I wanna be just as close as the Holy Ghost is And lay you down on a bed of roses Well I'm so far away Each step that I take is on my way home King's ransom in dimes, I'd give each night To see through this payphone Still I run out of time Or it's hard to get through Till the bird on the wire flies me back to you I'll just close my eyes and whisper "Baby, blind love is true" I wanna lay you down in a bed of roses For tonight I'll sleep on a bed of nails Oh I wanna be just as close as the Holy Ghost is And lay you down on a bed of roses Well this hotel bar's hangover whiskey's gone dry The barkeeper's wig's crooked And she's giving me the eye Well I might have said yeah But I laughed so hard I think I died Ooh yeah Now as you close your eyes Know I'll be thinking about you While my mistress she calls me To stand in her spotlight again Tonight I won't be alone But you know that don't mean I'm not lonely I've got nothing to prove For it's you that I'd die to defend I wanna lay you down in a bed of roses For tonight I'll sleep on a bed of nails I wanna be just as close as the Holy Ghost is And lay you down I wanna lay you down in a bed of roses For tonight I'll sleep on a bed of nails I wanna be just as close as the Holy Ghost is And lay you down On a bed of roses

I grew up with Bon Jovi . My husband is the same age as him. We may have had bad perms, weird clothes and no cell phones in the 80's but we had Bon Jovi. There was talent then. Most of the music today is not sung by talented people, they "fix" it in the studio. I miss the 80's.

This is my favorite song, favorite for the lifetime, everything in this song works for me, the lyrics inspire me, the beat touches my soul, the guitar and the solo deeply enters in my ears and makes me fly around.
