Have you ever been to Bonn? What did you think? And if not, would you go? Why? Why not?
@NuGanjaTron Жыл бұрын
Rubbish ppl. Nosy and intolerant neighbours. Incompetent city council. High taxes. Forget Bonn and stay in Cologne if you're in the area. So much more to offer.

6:40 The red phone booth has been there for decades. I stands in front of what used to be an international studies / student exchange centre in a tudor-styled villa, if memory serves me correctly. Come to think of it, I never checked whether that booth actually had a working phone...
@LexUniverse Жыл бұрын
i never checked that either... but thanks for the info, it is interesting :)

that's good :) are you from Bonn?
@NuGanjaTron Жыл бұрын
Yeah. Too proud for their own good at times (read: arrogant). 😕 I never got along with them. And I'm actually born there, I'm sorry to say. This used to be quite a place back in the day when it was still a capital (of sorts). Now it's all gone downhill.

I live 2 hours away from Bonn. Is it worth it in January ?
@bamdebambambam Жыл бұрын
It depends. You can always visit museums like the national gallery or the house of history. I highly recommend going to the old town during cherryblossom season which is somewhere around end of march/early april. Last year it began after the first week in april, with mild weather it can start earlier. With spring in progress the botanical garden, Südstadt/Poppelsdorf are worthwile as well.

it will be cold, but I really liked the city :) so go for it, especially when you live that close :)

Bonn was never the capital of Germany or West Germany. Berlin was always considered the formal capital. Since Berlin could not perform this function for several decades after the Second World War, the West German part of the country - the then old Federal Republic of Germany - needed a temporary seat of government. And this seat of government became Bonn. After the reunification of West and East Germany to form the present Federal Republic of Germany, the decision was taken in Bonn's parliament to move the seat of government and parliament back to Berlin. The fact that the capital and the seat of government can be located in different cities for historical reasons was not a unique German feature. For example, The Hague is the seat of government of the Netherlands, while Amsterdam is its capital.

@@LexUniverse Dont listen to him its wrong. Of course bonn was the capital from 1973 bis 1990 and the seat of the government till 1999. You can look it up at any source because its a fact wikipedia for example. Because Berlin is very poor and has a low level of education Berlin became the Capital again and the government moved to Berlin as a stimulus package für one of the poorest regions in Germany.
@vonanstetten2355 Жыл бұрын
Thats just wrong. Bonn was the Capital of Germany from 1973 until 1990.

@sarediv I have lived in Bonn for the past 45 years. I politely have to vehemently disagree with your take on the history of Bonn.
