I was on Bud's crew helping put the monster together. Then crewing again at the drags at Half-Day, along with several other guys that were inspired by this great legend. We tried to run his hot OLDs at Bonneville in 53, but had a technical problem ( no roll bars on the convertible). The BIG YEAR was 1955, when he ran the MONSTER at Bonneville. I took leave from the Air Force to be on his fine crew. I was privileged again in 2009 to be on his team at Bonneville when he ran the SPORTSTER. Not only is he a fast biker, he is a great GENTALMAN and outstanding friend.

I was there also. I helped build the Monster & raced at Half-day. Also went to Bonneville in 51,55 & 2009.

I'm happy to report that Bud is still alive and well. He comes by the Indian motorcycle dealership I work for, and still rides occasionally, at 94 years old!

Bud is an inspiration to us all,the fact that he plans to be running as fast as he can on two wheel at Bonneville until he's 82, we should all be so lucky.

The salt flats is truly a remarkable place but what really makes it additionally special are the people. I'm glad you are enjoying my efforts to capture some of the history that takes place there. Lou Fischer
