What species of willow?What kind do I buy for natural living fences?There is are so many.Thanks!
@verdant_veneration11 ай бұрын
@@jenkemjones68its important to buy live shoots. The time between cutting the shoots and getting them in the ground needs to be minimised. As far as I know many types of willow can be used, that can also be used for pollarding. Look for a willow nursery in your area. There are many videos on this platform with how-toos so maybe those can help you along!

@@jenkemjones68The Weeping Willow in my area doesn't need to be rushed into the ground. It is one of the best natural rooting agents around. You can make other plants root with a tea from it's leaves & twigs. Perhaps you can find some wild Willows in your area?
@jenkemjones689 ай бұрын
@helentc Got them in the ground and they are growing quick.Already had to prune them after a couple of weeks to get the to grow outward more.They are corkscrew willows which I'm hoping will reach my goal of a privacy fence.

I would love to build that larger stucture in my back yard but i'm asking myself how in the heck am i going to trim it down each year. Best guess I have for me would be to trim it back to just the side poles and let it grow into itself every spring.

Wow~! Wonderful! Questions... Can willows be planted into structure shapes if near a septic system drain field? How close can it be planted? If one does not have a pond near the willows, will they still survive...or will they need constant watering? Where can I find enough living willow cuttings to do a project? Has anyone put waterproof liners inside them? Anyone "planted a tiny house" using this tech?

willows are finicky. don't they need to be near a water source to thrive? how are they kempt from drying out?
@pipfox783421 күн бұрын
I live in a Mediterramean climate with very moderate rainfall. Very dry summers mostly. But there were two magnificent willows on my street growing up, one was ours. They shared water with the lawn when the sprinkler was on. Otherwise they were fine on rainfall
