Lincoln, The Wiz is the version with very prominent actors, actresses, and singers (Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Richard Pryor). It's an all black cast. It is great! Bonnie may I suggest you and kiddos watch them all!

The Wiz is a black version of The Wizard of Oz. It was made in 1977 as a stage play. It's very good. Ask me all about OZ. Wicked is phenomenal as a stage play. I'm embarrassed to say how many times I've seen it.

I love hearing what people think about it who didn't know the story before! I was lucky enough to see it on Broadway in 2010 and have always listened to the soundtrack but honestly forgot a lot of the plot so it was still exciting to me, too. I immediately went to see the movie and second time and I still feel like I need to see it more, I don't know why, it's like addictive!! Going to read the book next which is apparently darker.

The spoiler I'll give is that Glinda isn't as bad/selfish as she seems in the beginning of the movie when they are celebrating Elphaba being dead! She never stopped being Elphaba's friend, her outward support of the townspeople hating Elphaba was to protect her.

My best friend was a performer and guest starred in wicked Broadway she passed away in 2019 due to health. We shared the same illness. Even if I wanted to I can’t bring myself to watch it because it would make me feel sad knowing she’s not here so I won’t do that to myself.

I absolutely loved Wicked. The stage play and the movie. I love Johnny Bailey too. He could literally have chemistry with a potato. I really agree with your opinion about Glinda (or Galinda) and Elphie. Cynthia and Ariana both play such good parts and I don't think they could have found anyone better. I obviously LOVE the music too. Can't wait for this time next year!!

WICKED MUSICAL SUPERFAN HERE!!! The stage broadway version is in two parts ( act 1 and act 2 ). Act 1 is set before the wizard of oz and how they met at shiz university. Act 1 ends with defying gravity, and then ALL of act 2 is supposed to be set during the wizard of oz/ after the wizard of oz! So its really cool to see all of the wizard of oz easter eggs in act 2 :)

We saw the stage show in STL, NYC, and Dayton, Ohio. I saw the movie Monday morning in an almost empty theater which was awesome! I’ll see it again with my family after thanksgiving.
