Very well done!! I’m working on a Shohin Satsuki with the same thoughts in mind. A little tricky as they are less flexible on older wood. I too often look first at the Nebari. It’s the most important part of the tree, like the foundation of a house.

Interesting, thanks for sharing! Perhaps a point of interest for myself: in many parts of the world, Japanese Maple is a very, very popular species for bonsaï, perhaps the most or one of the most popular species. I noticed that BonsaïQ in their videos, hardly pays any attention to those trees. It's certainly no criticism but I think it's quite remarkable. Is there a reason for almost neglecting Japanese Maple as bonsaï in your videos? By the way, I'm living in Western Europe (The Netherlands).

Prob too common and not as sought after in the Japanese market…that’s my conclusion. Plus aesthetically how much can you really shape a Japanese Maple like they love to do with these Pines! Japanese Maple is not that popular for Bonsai in USA either. Popular for a garden tree however.
