Haha, I totally get the feeling of the throwbacks. I too can relate to the hurricane Alicia part, but as you know the whole Houston (or Dallas as Houston (or vice versa)) connection to this show's first two seasons is a big draw for me. Hurricane Alicia happened two years before I was born, but my parents had to board up all the windows in their new house and I've seen photographs of my childhood home before landfall. And totally right about lots of quiet conversations waiting out hurricanes with people. No power, nothing to do but talk. I don't think Dallas was hit anywhere as hard as Galveston/Houston, but wikipedia seems to say the show portrayed it pretty accurately for the area. And also well said catching how the internet really did use to allow you to be your true self! There was a sort of safety to just have a screenname and have fun. Now you have to make sure you keep up appearances even if you are using your screenname, because with some amount of google, someone is going to be able to trace you to your real new for sure. And your job may google your name time to time to make sure your social media is being kept up professionally as well.

I think the hurricane storyline in the show is one that didn't make as deep an impression on me as someone who lives/lived in that area, and so I feel like this episode would give you a lot more takeaways. I love that it got brought up in this interview, because I am sure there are so many people out there who identify - and who had some visceral memories brought up by the episode. I really appreciate that you shared your own personal experience on this!!
