About the Video:
The confusion between bonus shares and stock split is very common. People frequently get confused on how the shareholders get additional shares in both the concepts, how do they affect the stock’s price and how does it affect the balance sheet of the company? Moreover, it is also fascinating to understand how the stock split leaves the market capitalisation of a company unchanged. Bonus ko lekar meri soch galt thi...... mujhe lagta tha 2:1 ki surat me mujhe 1 ke bandle 2 shares gift ki traha diye jayenge yani ki....100 ka ek share hai to ab mere paas total 300 ka 3 share hojayenge, jisme 200 ka 2 share gift ki traha company ki taraf se issue kiye gaye hain. Dekha jaye to share holders ke portfolio me kuchh fark nahi padega split ya bonus se.

very aptly explained sir. but one query is though as a investors we don't get much benefit from it , but one thing you forgot is that we get dividend compared to earlier as now our quantity is increased than before.

But the dividend is now being split into more number of shares. So though the number of shares have increased, the dividend per share will be less as compared to before bonus. So overall it remains same as before. Correct me if I am wrong. I am learning.

If 15 0ct is ex-bonus date with 2:1 ratio and someone holding 100 shares (cmp 300) till 14 oct sells all the 100 shares on 15 oct (at cmp on 15 oct) , will he get 200 bonus shares (at price 100) on 16th oct (bonus date) ?
