How Radu Albot kept his cool during the arguments is really mind blowing. He even got a code violation after that quite ridiculous mistake by umpire and linesman when the ball was clearly OUT! He's really one of the nicest person on tour and he just became my new favorite player. Really glad he won that match eventually.

The call was obviously wrong, but Albot just had to drag it out even though it was clear that nothing would change. He was worse than Kyrgios. It's childish behaviour, any professional player should know when to focus on playing again. The umpire didn't handle this situation well at all, but at the end I was hoping for Albot to lose the match or to get defaulted while "protesting" on the bench.

She can demand a player to continue play, and penalise and ultimately call for the supervisor to default them if they refuse and continue to argue. Unfortunately she didn't handle that situation well and allowed it to escalate before eventually issuing a code violation. But umpires at lower levels tend to be less experienced than those working the tours, and sometimes this is the result.

Gosh that Albot clip was so painful. The way that umpire handled the situation was atrocious, she needs a few lessons on de-escalation. Also why did Vavassori not admit to his ball being out? Imagine standing there listening to that whole ordeal knowing well and true that it should be Albot's point. Very poor sportsmanship.

@@patrikiosvatemanopoulos totally agree, I think what the umpire didn’t clarify was she didn’t have line of sight on the ball, so she has to go with the line judge’s call which was in. When she said, “it was my mistake”, I think she is empathizing with Albot as in, “sorry, I wasn’t able to see it so therefore it’s in”. I thought she was extremely fair in the way she handled it. Like you can’t argue a point for 10min and think it’s ok to ask for a supervisor for any situation, it’s unfair to your opponent, so I think the delay of game violation was justified. Sorry if I’m rambling but it was one of the more interesting drama clips I’ve seen in a while.

Please someone explain to me: if swinging but missing the ball on the regular service counts as serve then why fake underarm serve doesn't? The player performs the whole motion but misses the ball. What's the difference? I'm not against the underarm, but faking one is actually annoying...

Perhaps because if it’s fake, the ball has not left the hand of the player yet so it doesn’t count as throwing the ball completely.

I mean it's just releasing the ball milliseconds prior the contact so it's not a throw, right? then, if the throw is required as the part of the service motion and it must be before the swing then they should simply ban the underarm serve. imagine if I'm making normal serve but the ball is stuck in my hand and I still swing the racket - would it count as serve?))

@@golllaur that won’t count as serve (or an attempt to serve). It will count as you practice the serve. Cuz you didn’t throw the ball out of your hand. That’s not illegal. For underarm serving, if you let the ball of out of hand and swing under arm and miss and catch the ball again. That’s illegal. So again the ball has to be tossed out of hand.
