What is the difference between a suture and a fissure?

A fissure is an open crack. In the context of skeletal anatomy, there's only two I can think of: the superior and inferior orbital fissure. A suture is where two bones are "stitched together" by collagen fibers with no opening in between them. All the examples are in the skull.
