I played this game when it first came out, such a unique and replayable game, but the platform mass pushes simulators and cash grabs over actual good and unique games so it genuinely underperformed for what it should've. Thank you for reviewing the game and giving it the exposure this team needs.

I played this game a couple months ago with some friends and tbh the difficulty did scale quite a lot (we did do really high difficulties so there's also that). Some levels were really challenging because the enemies were multiplied because there were 3 of us but other than that I definitely agree with everything Eclipse said in the video. The game is fun and definitely a good game for a, "Roblox game". Also nice to see the game get recognition as I haven't seen any content on it.

Amazing video Eclipse, as a more-or-less neonKnights "OG" player (I say that with very big quotes, I played quite a bit during launch, even paid for the beta access and stuff, but then kind of burnt out of it), absolutely agree with 99% of your points! The only one that I do not agree with is the point that you made that talks about useless guns, because there is a reason for them to exist, and it falls directly into the economy of the game. The thing is nK is not only a roguelike but it's also a looter-shooter, and I can 100% tell that this "bad guns thing" comes from Borderlands, because in that game even in the ABSOLUTE ENDGAME of UVHM, you still get bad weapons, you still get weapons that you could say are useless, because the point of them is not to be used, but to be sold, to give you a boost in money. In Borderlands, you loot them so you can sell them to buy other weapons, ammo, shields, whatever upgrades you need. While in nK, you sell them so you can buy the crates that can give you better weapons or gear or whatever (which to some degree, yeah, it's lootboxes but you're not really paying real money for so, eeeh, it's a "sure, that makes sense" for me), so you're basically making a trade of "hey, here's a bunch of useless weapons, give me a better one". But yeah, amazing vid as always Eclipse!

I'm not sure if it's what I think it is, but the added aggression that made the enemies unreactable was due to a modifier that can be triggered by interacting with the pillars, as I noticed you had the debuff during that segment. The pillar basically goes 'hey bro, increased loot for way harder enemies' which makes any enemy you shoot have a chance to be massively buffed. I never really had a problem with the Hidden modifier, it does have a few particles on the hidden enemies, though I do see where you're coming from. I agree with the skill tree stuff, I had to go for the wiki for that. Just so you know, you can skip stages, you can pay Flux, an ingame currency, or use a voucher that they give out as a reward to do so. I do personally DESPISE the level 2 boss, the one you were fighting the most, he's just not very engaging at all and has way too much HP. He's only remotely fun because I have a melee that explodes on kill, making his adds deal huge chunks of his HP when he dies. There also IS a fast travel to the shops, the crate shop, upgrade shop and clothes shop off the top of my head. I believe it's the shop button on the bottom left, next to the play button, it'll bring up the 3 shops with their name and the shop owner on the front. The reason for guns being how they are is that guns actually act as a secondary resource in the late game. The more 'gun I will not use' you have, you can convert them into certain currencies or have them melted down for their abilities, so I never really went, 'oh nah, I looted a bad gun' I went 'OH YES, I LOOTED A GUN, I CAN TURN THIS INTO CARBONITE TO LEVEL UP MY CURRENT GUN.' (Also quick dark souls moment, I do understand if you don't like it, but google DOES get the lore from the game itself, and you're fully capable of coming to your own conclusion on your own if you WANT to). nK is sort of like that, most of the story is revealed from the third level onwards (the robots are sentient n stuff, the characters of the machines start developing from code to GRAH I LOVE VIOLENCE AND JAPAN) but its mostly just environmental storytelling (the bots from level2 are clearly design for military purposes, and posters and billboards in level 3 then reveal they work for a PMC) but yeah the ending is really weird. I'd not spoil it but then I don't even know what to say outside of 'it's weird.' I find most of the interaction with the world comes from constantly interacting with the NPCs, as their dialogue changes with each run up to a point, and the game clearly wants you to talk to them, talking to the old lady revealing the existence of a previously unknown item mechanic that you'd only find out about by interacting with her or the shop owner in level 1, which is also signalled by a little exclamation mark. I really found myself getting attached to the characters, far more than I did in AO and shartwoken. Also yeah I agree that the Carpenters SUCK, up there with the Trendsetter that spams you with Social Media notifs, they just spawnhitboxes on you. Some extra complaints I have with the game is that I feel the flux and carbonite grind can get a bit too much at times, as well as the final boss being a bit of a gimmick fight. Personally my fav boss was the one before it, and the final boss is by no means bad, it managed to make me feel really tense and the reveal what you were actually fighting is a nice spectacles, but my time with souls has made me prefer the Actual Dude Fights You fight to gimmick fights. I also feel that for an NPC interaction heavy game, that fact that once you deplete their dialogue the NPCs just go '...' is a bit of a mood killer. Still neat to see them walk around and stuff though. Overall great review Clips, thank you for reviewing my favourite game on this platform.

I kind of hope this video boosts the games player count, Neon Knights is kind of like a hidden gem that wasn't fully unveiled, it got out there but it didn't reach as far as it could have, I get that a lot of people just aren't a fan of Dungeon or Rouge like games but for the ones who are, it could have been better. From my time when I was playing it, I had a great time, I could just turn off my brain and just shoot and slash away pairing along with my monkey brain liked seeing new shiny things and watching small numbers rise to small nuclear levels of damage and since you're always moving my A.D.D was calm most of the time. 11:10 A counter statement to this "negative" is that bad items in rougelites/rougelikes exist to make the better items shine more. The entire point of a "God run" is a run where u get the best items/weapons available. Bad items also add challenge and difficulty to the game. For example, you can start a run with the worst weapon imagineable, forcing the player to try harder in order to make the run work. Then, later on they are rewarded with one of the best weapons in the game. This adds an extrodinarily rewarding feeling for passing through the game with a "low tier weapon". Not saying you are wrong, just food for thought. Keep up the great content man :).

Nitpick counter arguments: Modifiers - Invisible enemies are always able to be seen via a white sparkle they emit at all times so that's straight up wrong. Hasty enemies is really annoying tbf, throws off reaction timings and such Menu - fair, but I think that could be a design choice to make sure you can't just switch weapons in the middle of combat, and actually try and use the tools you are given Visibility - Agree Skill tree - I personally think the tree follows a path pretty well, so idk what you're on - left is dmg and actual stats- right is item access and more items - top is raid buffs - bottom is grinding and and long term survivability Rogue-like being a rogue-like - :> Enemy scaling- I mean, you could always try and look out for weapons with better dmg-ammo ratios and/or weapon combos like green tea + sniper rifles making quick work of tanky enemies Silence - eh, imo it seems to be supposed to give a desolate vibe Lore - yes. lots of dialogue from npcs, only getting new dialogue after each raid. KIMII FOREVER!!!!!1 Hitboxes - I hate the axes. they've ruined so many of my not hit challenges D:

i feel as a player in about level 30, and a little more than halfway through the game, neonknights is barely a pay to win game. sure, you can buy currency to get better weapons, but it is still pretty easy to buy and obtain the same weapons without spending anything. along with that, it isn't a pvp game, allowing any purchases made to be fair to all players, as it won't affect others. however, there is one part that is a tad pay to win; that being using carbonite in story driven ways. in a recent update, it was possible to buy an upgrade to your living space with 30,000 carbonite. this takes hours of grinding to get, and can become repetitive and boring if you are f2p. if you spend money, this is easily bypassed and not a problem. though, as i said earlier, this doesn't affect other players in any way whatsoever, but it can be a little annoying to have to spend money if you want to still have an enjoyable time playing. thanks for reading my thoughts and have a good day !! :3

I would like to make a slight correction: Technically this is a Rogue𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘦 since Roguelikes will always set you back to absolutely nothing, while Roguelites will let you keep a small pool of your stuff, like upgrades and items you've gathered.

About your argument on bad loot, the guns, the stats they drop with, and the modifers they have are all random. The rarity of the gun does not determine how good it is, it only changes the colors available for the gun and the modifers you can use. So if you have an Omega gun, but it has roullet and thrust but also have a common weapon that has Claymore and Echo, you would use the Common gun over the Omega one. And also, the enemies are not completely invisible, they leave behind particles when they move so you can have an idea of where they are.

A very remarkable game given the current Roblox environment, wish it got more attention. Currently it has 7.5 million visits, but still. Only a few dozen players are online at any given time. Great graphics, clean gameplay, well balanced, good customization options and some lore too - discovered through repeat conversations. There are also secret levels with good amount of work to them, not often you see developers hiding content like that. Top game, looking forward to future updates.

It being an 8 on the Roblox platform is already really impressive, but the fact that its a BETA game and already better than most of the other games on Roblox makes it a ten in my opinion. Im sure once the game is fully completed it will be a 10 without a doubt, and they have the opportunity to fix all of the issues eclipse talked about in this video, so in my opinion this game has alot of potential, lets hope it doesnt go to waste.

This Roblox Roguelike is ACTUALLY GOOD! I scream at the top of my lungs on my 90th day without having played YBA, running across Heaven Ascended DIO's realm (dungeon crawler map) and M1'ing the Alpha Thugs (robots with hammers) with my SBR revolver (sweeping buckshot). This game is so similar to YBA that I'm prompted to say "the fact that it's on ROBLOX to begin with" (implying it's nearly as good because YBA is also on roblox) "is pretty impressive". Going through the purple water dimension I proceeded to use my Bat (knight's blade) to kill the unsuspecting Tusk Act 3's (robots with guns) whose poor unupgraded Nail Shots were no match! This game even has a dash function which sadly is a copy of YBA. After a good day's work of playing this YBA copy I decide to kick back and relax in my beautiful Thug Park (backyard) and maybe Tree Summon (plant a flower) a couple of times. Hopefully my rest won't be interrupted by pesky Prestige 0's (my friends) who want to talk to Trish (my girlfriend) to advance their quests (hang out)! A major Soft and Wet moment.

I'm so happy he played this game. It's so fucking good. There is technically pay to win, but it feels like the game actively discourages it. You can buy crates for guns whose stats are for your level. It can make getting rare guns with more or special attributes easier, but those guns can become useless when you level up once and find a low-tier gun in the wall with twice the damage. My only problem is that there's a MASSIVE difficulty spike at a certain floor and it takes most of my ammo to clear a room.

I think there’s a lot of truth to what you’re saying but in most rogue likes like hades, into the gungeon, slay the spire and a lot of others have extremely difficult modifiers as well to service the best of the best players. They aren’t meant for everyone

There’s some side story for the characters you talk to. It changes every time you do a dungeon and talk to them. But it’s pretty meh as far as I see them. Think of it more as “affection” dialogues in gacha like FFE and such. It builds a bit on the world but mostly the character.

OH YES, I GOTTA PLAY THIS AGAIN There are SOOOO many enemies, like those robot dogs and the second boss is pretty crazy, it’s quite good. And the fact that the micro transactions ain’t that bad, you can guy some chests for loot but mostly it feels like those are for only cosmetics from what I have done. I got a gun that’s basically just constantly gambling with damage going from -30% to like +80%!

I can say for certain the game is not p2w. I know you may have seen the shop and gun crates but trust me most of your guns will never come from those crates but instead from individual runs. Another fact is that there are quirk exclusives. They can be exclusive to the region or event. E.g. railgun is exclusive to the 2nd region.

hey eclipse, cool review and i might just check this game out! ive never tried roquelikes so i hope this game's gonna be good. also could you play a game called "find everything"? (i know the name sounds bad but hear me out) its a cool platformer (if you like those) and ive had some of the most fun on roblox playing it. its kinda like mario oddysey and the movement is very smooth. the maps are also very well made for a roblox game! but due to it being a payed access game it doesnt get much love and only really has about 20 active players most of the time. but its also from the same makers as super doomspire and super bomb survival (both very good games too).

you should play isle, its a really fun game especially with friends and especially if you know nothing about it. Only problem is it needs alot of runs for you to figure out how to actually win
