I just want to thank you so very much for taking the time to put this tutorial together; not only do you show all the materials you used, but you even took the time to explain why you were doing what you were doing. I have been through so many tutorials that don't even explain why you are doing a certain step. So thank you again good sir!
@RandomMakingEncounters2 жыл бұрын
You're very welcome. It's tough knowing the right balance between showing and explaining. I watch a lot of KZbin and I think there are two styles... watch me make a cool thing... let me talk you through how you can make a thing. Both can be entertaining but I always want to know how they do it so I can go and try to replicate it in my own projects. I'm a maker by nature and I want to hopefully inspire others to realize we all can be makers. Cheers!

This is the best technique I have seen. I love the way you shaped the spine. It's nice to see someone who makes as big of a mess with glue as I do. lol!
@RandomMakingEncounters3 жыл бұрын
Right?! It's particularly tough when it's Super Glue. I always have a bottle of de-bonder handy! I can't claim credit for the technique. I came across it on the interwebs but it works out really well. I've simplified the page construction a bit but would need to give it a rethink for books that are open. I still like the "signatures" approach but would need to glue 'em a bit differently. Thanks for watching!
@ClaudiaMcNeely3 жыл бұрын
I do my best NOT to use super glue. I recently made some open books. I made individual pages, stacked them, put glue on the spine fanning them to make sure it got into all the pieces to hold them. It worked well.

Great tutorial. Can't wait to do this myself.

Awesome! If ya get a little assembly line going you can really crank 'em out. Have fun and all the best!

Thanks! I'm working on a book nook and need a bunch of mini paper stacks so I think I may have come up with a way to easily make/fake the "pages" quickly... maybe... we'll see. Maybe I'll post up a short to get that out! Cheers!

I loved the dry addition of things you do like glue on your fingers then sticking onto things. The process of making the books looks interesting and easy to do. Thanks for sharing.

It's even worse with super glue. You know you have a problem when you need to keep a bottle of de-bonder handy! Thanks for watching! All the best.

Nice! I'm glad it was helpful. There are some good tutorials this was based on but I kinda skipped a bunch of steps to make it a little easier. Many of the other books will actually open which takes more care. Have fun!

Awesome! Happy to hear that. It's been a while between videos. I have a couple of things in the hopper... actually more than a couple (part of the problem). Feedback like yours keeps me moving forward! All the best.

would love a copy of the "ruler" with the human scale on it
@RandomMakingEncounters3 жыл бұрын
Let me see what I can do. It's a completely random scale that I made up for a project but I think it would be good to make a ruler or rulers in a few different scales. It's a really handy thing to have just for quick little scale checks to make sure things are too outta whack.

I'm glad you found it helpful. It's built on ideas from others with a bit of a "how can I do it a bit faster with a little cheating" twist. Thanks for the comment and have fun with your project! Cheers!

Hello! Where did you get that scale? I've been searching for something like that for ages.
@RandomMakingEncounters3 жыл бұрын
I actually made it myself. Since it’s not a normal architectural scale I kinda just winged it. Is there a particular size you were looking for?

@RandomMakingEncounters2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! I actually just made it myself. The scale is not a common one so I found some free ruler clip art and the outline of a person and scaled them in Adobe Illustrator. I've had a request for a quick video on how to make scale rulers. May make that one a short!
