What is it about the human experience that we think our path must be different from everyone else’s? So many come from imperfect backgrounds: single parents, abusive families, rich, poor. Our conversion stories can never be the same, whether in the church or out of it. So incredible that we can come together under one umbrella in unity to Christ!

So glad to help seniors to go to see church history sites. My husband and I have not been a Disney land kind of family. So taking our children to Disneyland before their mission was not us. Soooo when our oldest son was headed to New Jersey on his mission we all went to Nauvoo . They loved it. When our second son was headed to Zimbabwe we went to Palmyra and Kirkland. Then when our third son was going to Venezuela we took them to Martin's cove. All 3 said that was when they had their testimony cemented about Joseph Smith being a true prophet and knowing he restored Christ church at this time on the earth. Never regretted the time nor money spent doing it. I have never been to a homecoming or farewell that in their testimony they were thankful for having a testimony of mickey mouse and it helping them on their mission. Having said that, all my kids have been to Disneyland but it was with school bands. So all you Disneyland fans out there we are not boycotting Disneyland. But feeling the spirit that are at the church history sites makes a difference in some of them choosing to go on a mission and doing what the prophet asked them to do.

These Scriptures make it quite clear Christ is the only way to escape from bondage. I told my therapist the same last week.

Freedom! I loved this weeks study, there are so many stories and I really hope I did not loose any of my students with all the stories, they all connected together. But I had such a great time with the book of Mosiah. Today in class we had two teams the Limhi Team and the Alma Team. We talked about their trials and afflictions and found that everyone has trials. And found how each escaped their afflictions. It was so good to learn that we will all have these trials. We learned that when we endure our trials cheerfully and patiently, the Lord strengthens us to bear our burdens with ease. I have often told my students that there will be times that we feel like we fall, we will all have these moments but to always remember, it's not that fall that matters. Its how we rise after the fall that defines who we are. Both Alma and Limhi showed us that with their unique, "Uncommon Path" I testify that as we turn to Him, Our Father in Heaven, He will sustain us during our trials.

I have always believed in God. But Joining the church and making covenants and learning the scriptures and the gospel I can now say I know God and Jesus and their teaching and what I need to do to return to them. I am grateful for the freedom we have to choose to listen to the words of modern day prophets. Like Alma and Abinidi, they speak eternal truths with power and authority. We become the followers of Christ as we use that freedom to become followers, even disciples, of Christ. As a convert, I needed to gain a testimony not only of the prophet Joseph but also of God's anointed leaders of His Kingdom upon the earth today. That sure knowledge came rather quickly to me. I took my own unique journey to the covenant path. Though it was challenging in many ways, I wouldn't change a thing. The blessings far outweigh the burdens which the Lord has made lighter. I would love to meet you when you are in Kirkland! I am so thankful for the freedom to listen and watch your lessons! Love ya! Bye!

Thank you for your lesson. I'm trying to watch the videos sooner than I was in the past. Am a bit behind on this one. The difference between Limhi and his people's experience vs. Alma's strongly points out things can be better in a bad situation with faith in Jesus Christ and working to be Christlike from the beginning, But those of us who need more affliction in order to grow spiritually can get delivered too. Freedom! Did I understand correctly that this downsizing and move have made you mortgage free? It is wonderful to be mortgage and debt free. We have been so since 2007.

On the subject of creative visual aids, shortly before I met my wife she joined the church and one day we are watching the story of Lehi leaving Jerusalem on a KZbin channel called "Thumb Follow Me" in the video they use the U-Haul brand moving truck on the back of a couple of camels. So naturally next time we were reading in the book of Mormon I did a little ad-libbing an insert a U-Haul into the story. 😅

Off topic....who is taller? One of the ways I put myself in bondage is, "I want people to know if they are wrong", of course everyone wants to have accurate information. The thing is I'm looking for that. What a waste of time! At my friends' funeral, he was quoted as saying, " It's better to be, Kind than Correct." So I'm working on me, and not correcting others. I do have a question, Mosiah 18:11...They clapped for joy and exclaimed! Do we do that? Do we.physically show our joy about the excitement the gospel brings into our lives? Tom, Morgan, UT.

In either history, the Lord caused the Lamanites to fall into a deep sleep. Gideon sent the Lamanites wine to make them drunk and Alma's people were saved because Amulon and the Lamanites fell into a deep sleep from the Lord.
