13 TAURUS - Der verliebte Stier - The Amorous Bull
Just as in some bull drawings by Pablo Picasso, the celestial bull is also represented just by its head and horns. Once again, the bull recalls an amorous exploit of the father of gods, Zeus. This time the lady in question was Europa, the daughter of the king of Phoenicia. Zeus approached her in the guise of a bull and allowed her to stroke him until she mounted his back. He then took her to Crete, where they conceived Minos, the first king of Crete.
Wie auf manchen Stierbildern von Pablo Picasso ist beim Himmelsstier auch nur der Kopf mit den Hörnern zu sehen. Der Stier erinnert wieder einmal an eine Liebschaft des Göttervaters Zeus. Diesmal war die phönikische Königstochter Europa die Auserwählte. Zeus näherte sich ihr als Stier, ließ sich von ihr streicheln, schließlich bestieg sie seinen Rücken und ließ sich von ihm übers Meer, nach Kreta bringen, wo er sich mit ihr vereinigte. Die Frucht dieser Verbindung war Minos, der erste König von Kreta.
