A compilation of Book Off game hunts in and around Tokyo from 2020. It was a pretty good year for my game hunts, and I really stepped up the game hunts for patrons and Facebook buyers alike, kept me nice and busy.

It brings a smile to my face when I see retro games sealed up and shiny like the current gen software.

Where I live I have a Good Will that never has games, two other thrift stores that never have games, a second hand multi-media store that has really overpriced games, and a card shop with lots of loose only games I don't want or already have. You get to wake up in reasonably priced, boxes and manuals are the norm, retro gaming mecca with options only limited by how much you wanna walk, and how much is in your pocket. I love these walkthrough videos so much because it's as close as I'm gonna get to living my Japan shopping dreams, but I'd be lying if I said I don't get jealous. Although it's _really_ badass of you to offer your services to help people like me grab some too! Thanks again!

@@ryanbachmann3541 Very true! That is one caveat about Japan that I could never get over to live there. You can drink yourself to death literally, but no no to that green stuff!

I've been to dozens of game stores that have retro games, and I've never seen that many Dreamcast titles anywhere. The only game you'll regularly see is NFL2K, which is common as dirt. It took a couple console generations for people in the US to realize what a great little machine it was and start snapping up what little was still out in the wild. It makes me happy that there's a place where games are thick on the shelves.

My hubby and I hope to go to Japan in 2022 or 2023 hopefully 🤞 just depends where everything is at in regards to Covid. Great video. I'm not feeling so well but it helps relaxing in bed and watching some gaming related videos.

I loved this particular BookOff for books! Their selection was amazing! Used all those 100円 manga to study. Game selection was small but still found a great condition 喧嘩番長6!

I didn't know that Bookoff sold old games until I saw your video. The times I stopped in all I can remember is the wall to wall manga. Ah well so many things to see and do in Japan and never enough time to do it all.

Been past here, I stayed in Minami Senju for a week and often i would walk from central tokyo along the line back to minami senju to avoid the crowds and to explore, I remember coming to this place but I think it was an electronics store at the time (2005) - (first stop*)

It’s amazing to see such price increases in Akiba or just retro games in general in Japan over the years. When I was living in Japan between 06 and 09, it was normal to see KOF games on Neo CD, Saturn and PS for a few hundred yen. Or the Alpha series for the same price. I used to buy PC Engine games for that price too, complete. Even used to find your common Neo Geo titles for about a thousand yen. I was so lucky to have purchased so many games during that time. I guess that’s what happens when there is a demand for these old games now. Feel bad for those getting into retro collecting today.

What is the difference between Bookoff Plus, Bookoff Express etc? Is it the size of the store? and if so..which is biggest? I'm mapping some out for my future trip and I don't want to pin any that are tiny (and travel far out of the city) to waste time. Love the vids - thanks!

What is the Covid situation like over there? Are you's still in a lockdown? I love these game hunting video's as it's a great way to go game hunting whilst in a strict lockdown over here. It's good to see the prices and I find your commentary very informative. Please can you go to Prime1 Studio in Akihabra. Great video! :)

In recent news scalpers were able to secure 3000 PS5's that were going up for preorder at some store chain in the UK. They bought them all A DAY BEFORE THE SALE! They found some security fault in the stores site that allowed them to do that and some buyers even reported being able to go into the store to pick them up! Seriously this is getting crazy...
