Book Review #1: Sword of Truth Book 1 - Wizard's First Rule by Terry Goodkind

Hey everybody! Today we're looking at the first book in a series that means a lot to me, Sword of Truth - Wizard's First Rule! While Terry Goodkind has well earned a reputation as a terrible human being, I believe that his art should not be punished for his actions, after all, artwork is the child of an artist, and the sins of the father surely do not pass on to his son right? Ha ha.

Thank you for the mostly positive review. Although the series is hated by most modern fantasy fans there is still a small dedicated fan base out there that are happy to see the series positively represented. Have you gotten to the Nicci Chronicles yet? I’m currently reading the first book In that series for the third time. Absolutely loved that side series!

Hey there! Happy to always give my honest opinions, I enjoy the series and personally feel alot of the hate (not all, but alot) is just people parroting what they've heard their favorite Booktokers and Booktubers say. I haven't gotten to the Nicci Chronicles yet but I'm excited to!

@@BriansReadingHovel for sure! BookTube is sadly a big echo chamber a lot of the time. Although I can tune out the negative reception and still enjoy the books it’s always nice to get to enjoy the social aspect with people online! I can’t wait to watch your Stone of Tears review when I can find the time and I hope you enjoy the Nicci books when you get to them!!! I also started as a fan of the show. It’s a pipe dream but I would love if they would continue it on Disney+ as a animated series or something. Or at least put the original show on there!

I read the series years ago, I've been thinking about giving it a second read lately. I never knew he was controversial. The only thing I remember not enjoying was Gratch, his role felt like a sidekick/pet out of a YA fantasy.
