I found it quite an easy read. It got interesting when Baz walked it (let's be real). I think Simon's wings are adorable, but I really want him to get his magic back ( a small sequel *fingers crossed* ). I LOVE SNOWBAZ.

I was actually thinking about how Simon’s magic was kinda weird. His wings and tail appeared at will, so I was kind thinking maybe he has some weird other power, especially since he has magical parents AND was born using a weird ritual??? Idk
@RidersDX8 жыл бұрын
SPOILER SPOILER................................I think I understand why simon had a tail and wings, symbolically. That chapter with simon and Baz at the dance is one of my absolute favorites because simon clearly feels he's let people down by not being the chosen one he was hyped up to be. The tail and wings are like a constant reminder of this fact, as simon has to walk around with people knowing who he was SUPPOSED to be. It's like a shadow that's never going to be cast away. It's a huge reason why he didn't want to go back to Wartford. It does seem uncomfortable, because Simon IS uncomfortable with his current situation. It does seem random at first but this is what makes sense to me.
@ClaraUnleashed9 жыл бұрын
I think the reason the first part of the book was a little boring was because we needed to get all of that world building and information that was supposed to be in the previous books. But since the previous books don't exist we had to get it in less than 200 pages, so it turned pretty boring. I was soso weirded out by the wings thing as well hahaha! But I just forgot it and focused on how hella cute Simon and Baz are!
@pugzy288 жыл бұрын
I was also utterly annoyed by Agatha, although you give the reasons why her existence was necessary. I also agree with the lack of satisfaction with the ending, the dragon tail was just so strange and had no reason. But yes, Simon and Baz, and especially Baz and an individual, are the bestest thing ever

I gave this book a four-star rating right after finishing it and then I started missing Simon and Baz and kept going back and looking for fanart and I was just obsessed and wanted more. Considering how I never felt this over any of Rainbow's other books, I had to change it to a five-star rating. I JUST LOVE SIMON AND BAZ. Carry On was so much fun aaaahhh.

One thing I loved a lot was the way Rainbow Rowell took popular fanfiction tropes and turned them on their head. Sexy Vampire- except being a vampire is anything but sexy because it’s surrounded by stigma Chosen One- except in the end, he’s not the greatest; he ends up at the bottom Magic- except magic is more of a hindrance than a help because Simon is bad with magic Orphan- except the glamorous tragedy of the orphaned chosen one is taken further- he has trouble with his words, and anger problems because of it They face villain together- except it turns out to be nothing but an echo of the hero They have a big reveal in front of the whole grade- except it’s less of a triumphant shock and more of a tender moment I could go on forever

The first 200 pages was okey, good but not great. But then it got better and better! I really really love Penny, she is this kick-ass feminist character, which I love. Baz and Simon was also so cute! I thought that is was kind of satisfying that Simon didn't lose his wings. Like he still was a part of the magical world. Carry on was not as good as Eleonora and park or Fangirl but still is super great book. I love your videos btw

I was kind of disappointed in it. I liked it but I don't know why people are obsessing over it (especially on Kat's level). It was fine and I liked it more than Attachments but not as much as her other books. And I felt there were just too many pov's. I did like the romance though even though it was kind of rushed on Simon's part.

I loved this book way more than Fangirl, but I also read it before Fangirl and any of Rainbow Rowell's other books. I'm pretty sure that affected my view of it. I gave it 4 stars my first read-through as well, but I reread it just yesterday and am upping my original rating because I feel like I understand some of the decisions Rainbow made a little better now (except for [SPOILERS] the tail/wings thing at the end, which is still fricken weird).

SPOILERRRR (please , read my comment, i'm in painnn) What happened to Lucy? Like, how she died??? I was very confused about it and also with Simon not knowing he was The Mage's son!!! I was like... Hmmm.. This is a very important part of the book and what (?) Also. The wings and the tail. I didn't get None of those - it was unnecessary to say the least. But I love the story. I loved Baz so much I think he's the real protagonist of this book This is my favorite Rowell... But great review!
@mariam195548 жыл бұрын
+bruniilds It doesn't state in the book how Lucy died (typical RR giving us questions to think of after the book) but I think it was short after the Simon's birth. Maybe Mage killed her although Lucy said she still (kinda) loved him. And yeeesss Simon doesn't know so many things but that's still Rowell, maybe giving it opportunity to be a sequel hmmm I kinda liked wings and tail tbh but it did bother me at the beginning. Baz all the waayyyyyy I hope I helped hahaha
@nikkim70388 жыл бұрын
IKR!!! At the end all I could think about is "WHAT ABOUT LUCY??" I really hope Rowell make a sequel with a better plot (it wasn't bad thu), more action and more romance.
@marlenebehappi8 жыл бұрын
i feel exactly the same. in the epilogue i was like "did he find out who his parents were?" and i really hoped Lucy would tell how she died, but she didn't :(
@corinneyoung69165 жыл бұрын
bruniilds I believe the Mage killed her- though I’m not sure- but she may have simply been to weak to keep living. Simon was so hungry for magic, it drained her magical force, and perhaps took some of her life force with it.

I literally just finished reading this beautiful book and I searched for reviews. I agree with you completely. I really hated Agatha, like get the fuck out of here bitch; she just pissed me off and I wanted to skip every page where her name was. And for snake's sake, what's up to the wings and the tail, that freaked me out and well, I wouldn't mine it if Simon hadn't lost all his magic which was terrible. And it really bothers me that he didn't knew who his parents where and I would like to know how Lucy died or it would have been lovely if she became an actual Visitor for Simon. Anyways, I really loved and enjoyed the book and my heart melted everytime they did romantic stuff bc they're just so cute.
