The movie is good. The ending is different than the book though.

Will we make the correct decision? Are we able to make the decision? What is the correct decision? We are, each and every one of us, responsible for humanity's outcome. People can't/refuse to see what is right in front of them. The ending, of course, is all these questions and elludes to a statement of our inability to see beyond what we believe in any way. It is not meant for you to wonder what happens next in the book. It is meant for you to see yourself and question how what you believe affects everything- your six degrees. That's what I think.

Agreed and I think it was that aspect that scared the 💩 out of me. I know some people hated not having an answer, but I feel it is way more effective without an answer.

Don't know if you'll read this comment, it being 10 months after the posting of the video. But I started this book and stopped about 60-pages in. I don't know why (I wasn't bored with it or anything), I just stopped. I'm reading another novel by the author right now called THE PALLBEARER'S CLUB. I'm really enjoying that one. I'm about half-way through it. With KNOCK AT THE CABIN now out, I might give this one another go when I'm done. I love Paul Tremblay's writing and A HEAD FULL OF GHOSTS is one of the best modern horror novels I've ever read.

It's not just a Christian tone. It actually is about beliefs of anyone of any kind. We all belong to a "cult". We just believe it's the other cults that are incorrect. It's always the "other guy" with people.

I thought the book was weird. They break into the house just to kill themselves?

Well, technically it's to give the family a choice. Because if the family doesn't choose a sacrifice, it leads to one of the four intruders being killed by the other. And with every death that occurs between the intruders, it moves the apocolypse along, until at last there are no more of the intruders and the world ends. That is unless a family member offers themselves up as a sacrifice to prevent the intruders from killing each other off.

Just finished it minutes ago.. Loved this book and you did a wonderful review. I feel it more attributing to fate and just about the doom of destiny like each of us almost seemingly at the mercy and control of an invisible and indiscernable program of a cruel and careless taskmaster regardless of the illusion of perceived individual will. God doesn't care. We live as repeated vessels of events that have happened before and will inevitably happen again and again. And religion plays as a mask for our perception of it. Great read. And I was glad in a way both Eric and Andrew had escaped that loop of willfull sacrifice 🍵

If there is a creator then it doesn’t care for our pain and suffering. If there isn’t one then well… makes no difference on much. Energy and matter are such a trip. How molecules and atoms and subatomic particles just have their laws in space and some of them create consciousness and become self aware…

I truly loved this book. I live over on the West coast, so it kinda hit close to home for me. I have always wondered what would happen if I was hit with a tsunami. I don't want to find out...but... 😂 When I finished the book, I was wondering if there will be a sequel? 🤔

Tbh, I hope there isn't a sequel. I love the openness of wondering if it really was the end of not. I'm still on the fense about what really happened. Also, I hope you never have to go through a tsunami!

@@bookwormofthedamned I do agree they from what you said and watching the trailer that it has a cult feel to it...growing up in Alabama...some churches believe in holding deadly snakes is in their docturn..eh ... I do see what the writer is trying to go for.. I do see that its also up to the reader or to who ever watches the movie..Two fathers and a adoped kid feels organic to me as well...i am going to see if i can get the book this saturday so i will let you know. But i feel like its going to rip my heart out and stomp on it.. 😩
