A few years ago i got the flu really bad for like 10 days and I binged The Virgin River series by Robyn Carr. Never knew I liked romance before that 🤣🤣 and I completely agree with you about learning how to read and/or enjoy commercial fiction like that. It definitely made me stop "looking down my nose" at people who read romances.

FIFTY BOOKS. I'm so bad at series... and yet... that somehow appeals to me. I'm in the middle of a Kate Daniels binge and I'm just loving it so much. It's fun, Kate Daniels is my queen, and there is enough other plot both in terms of single book mysteries to solve and the over-arching stuff to feel like you get just a full, rich story. I'm planning on heading into Nalini Singh at some point, but I've also started the Mercy Thompson Series, which I think is 11 books total right now. Honestly, you gotta love a head first dive into books that just deliver on exactly what you expect.

The In Death series has been a long but wonderful journey-- there's something kind of lovely about committing to a series that long that consistently delivers. I feel like I will deserve a medal once I finally catch up! And YES Kate Daniels is so amazing-- if you haven't gotten to the Hidden Legacy series or Psy-Changeling, I think you will like them if you love KD

I love the In Death series. Though I haven't read from it in ages, and I'm up to book 10, so I have so many to go. I hope to get back to reading that series next year, because I love it so much when I read it. I'm not as good at binge Reading series as I have been. I hardly ever read more than one book from a series pr. month, but Discworld is what has come closest to me over the past year. I'm about to start the 9th book from that series in 2019.

I just finished a binge of the Flavia de Luce books by Alan Bradley. They are mysteries set in England during the 50s. I think the plots are a little thin tbh but I really enjoyed the main character and her love of science. The series that I binge and rebinge most often is the Vorkosigan novels by Lois McMaster Bujold. I have them all on audiobook and I would say they are comfort reads for me. They are sci-fi but much more about the characters than the science. One book in that series always makes me cry and a lot of them make me laugh out loud.

Totally agree with the In Death series, totally binge worthy. If we're talking Paranormal, Christine Feehan's Carpathian series, Sherilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunters and JR Ward Black Dagger Brotherhood are my top 3. In Contemporary romance, Roxanne St.Claire's Barefoot Bay series + her spin-offs are great. Now she has a second series that is also binge worthy in the Dogfather and its spin-off, the Dogmothers. Brenda Novak's Whiskey Creek is similar in style to most Sussan Mallery and finally, Jayne Ann Krentz/Amanda Quick/ Jayne Castle created an entire universe with Contemporary/Historical/Futuristic series that were like following same family thru time...love,love love those but she's dialing it back a little, so no more Dust Bunnies .😏

If you like Sookie Stackhouse, I would highly recommend the Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs, the first one is called “Moon Called” (I think there are at least 12 or 13 by now) and it’s companion series, the Anna Latham series, the first is a novella called “Alpha and Omega” and the first full novel is “Hunting Ground” (I think that series is up to 7 or 8.) I also recently started the Black Dagger Brotherhood series (I think there are 17 total) and binged the first 4 before I made myself stop.

I got caught out reading the first 6 or so Mercy Thompson books. The only way I'll continue is to read all the Mercy and Alpha & Omega books in the chronological Mercyverse timeline, but I actually prefer the Alpha & Omega ones to Mercy's as even though I like her (and most of the others) as a character, some of the plots of her books have been a tad boring to me and I'm not a fan of Adam. I much prefer Anna and Charles as a couple (dissenting opinion, I know!).

I still very much enjoy the Black Dagger Brotherhood books by JR Ward which has 19 main books, and four spin off series making up 14 more books. There are also two more in the main series already announced and two of the spin off series are still ongoing as well. Additionally there are a few novellas.

I read the black dagger brotherhood books until a couple of years ago, but as far as I know it is still running. It’s paranormal romance with vampires and I remember loving the overarching plot and the characters and the fights. But I dnf’ed book 13 and just never looked back. I wonder whether I’d still like them, now being a bit older and reading a bit more critically, as the series sure has its problems.

Poirot -love the books and the series. (David Suchet is Poirot) We share the same favorite. (love a 🔒 room mystery) I liked the first 8 Sookie Stackhouse books then not so much. (favorites are books 2 and 4)The Gilmore Girls was the show my daughter and I Always watched together. Loved the family dynamic, side characters and especially the witty banter. Kate Daniels series is one of my absolute favorite series. I've reread it so many times. I found it when the 5th (Magic Slays) came out, and I've never looked back. Love all of their series. Love Nalini Singh too, but I am more a Guild Hunters girl. I love the Elena and Raphael storyline, but I do prefer in general to follow the same characters and see the relationship development between the two main characters versus having new love interests for each book. Yes, I too read quite a few of Sand's Argenue series. I really liked the first few for the campy, tongue in cheek humor, but I stopped at about the 10th or 11th book in. Have you read Annette Marie or Suzanne Wright? Both are really good and give me a lot of the Ilona Andrews /Nalini Singh vibes.

My first binge reading was probably Nancy Drew. My parents bought me a subscription to the books in the late seventies. I was a sci-fi/fantasy reader at the time and was not sure about the change of genre, so about 4 months went by (two books per month) then I read all of them and hit the library for more. I love many of the series mentioned in the comments, second the recommendations of Elizabeth Peters Amelia Peabody books and Lois McMaster Bujold. I would add Laurie R King's Mary Russell series to the list. Are you going to do a video for authors who may not write series (or just shorter series) but are bingable? You had me thinking about my reading jags and realizing I have binged a lot of authors.

I have heard good things about, but haven’t tried it yet myself. I’m thinking of using one for Cloak and Dagger Christmas. But what I REALLY need is another bookshelf or two; someone to stand by me in bookstores and say, “No, no no, bad girl!”; a much bigger bank account or all three of the above! Ha! Binge-reading series' is the best and the only way I read most (not all, but most) series in any genre. That wait in between each book is too painful for me lol so I'd much rather wait longer to read them all at my leisure, even if it means I'm out of touch with the convos on newer releases. Plus, I'd have heart failure at a cliffhanger ending! But I'm also a completionist (I'm trying to be better at letting go now though)... and this does work against me at times of course! TFS :)

I remember getting the Cat Who books for my daughter when she was in...jr high, I think. She loved them! I've listed some of my favorite re-readable series before, and most qualify here, so lemme throw out a couple others: the Covert One series, which was started by Robert Ludlum writing with various others, and is now continued by a few other authors(12 books) the Amelia Peabody series by Elizabeth Peters (20 books) the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich (24 books, plus extras) Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (I'm stretching this one because technically there are only 9 books...but I'm inclined to add to that by including the non-canonical works by Doyle, as well as some of the collections written by various authors, particularly Shadows over Baker Street)
