You are the Van Gogh of journals that are rare and the finest of jewels, so incredibly beautiful and thoughtful and full of surprises (and completely under appreciated--WE get it, but the WORLD needs to too)--one day your work will be auctioned off for MILLIONS.

"Acting as custodian of rare, dangerous and emotive books had been his dream job. Now, however, he is ready to write the final chapter as the guardian of secrets. Myth, magic, science have all passed over his desk. Rare, often damaged by decades or centuries of neglect. Each fragment carefully hoarded and pasted into his notebook. The repository of much wit and wisdom. Dark secrets, monastic remedies, mathematical formulae disguised in plain sight for those who have the gift of interpretation. He lifts the book tenderly, wondering when its secrets will next be revealed and hurries out into the dark, misty night: eager to add his own chaper ." Beutifully curated, designed to entrance, mesmorise and delight. Thank you yet again , Jibid.

I'm convinced that you have many "superpowers". This book showcases your thoughts and ideas beautifully. I saw the Arts and Crafts paper some weeks ago on a video. I ordered it from the UK. I live in Georgia, U.S. A. I have this paper "in stock" now. I have practiced on a few journals. Your expertise inspires me. Your thought that goes into every detail boggles my mind. Thank you so very much for every video. Amazed once again...xoxoxo Sharon

Dave Mckinney aww thankyou so much sharon :) actually forgot to say in the video that i chose that paper because it was reminiscient of the endpapers you find in many old books so i think it goes well with that theme, but never mind. Thankyou again for your kind messages x

I found Belinda's channel on youtube that you mentioned. Thank you for sharing that channel. You graciously share ideas and direct our attention to other artists/crafters and I appreciate the generosity. I found Sigita Coffeestains through your videos some time ago and have enjoyed her grungy style. I purchased a card and a blank journal from her a few months ago. Are you taking any special orders at the moment? I'm getting a new printer set up to download (fingers crossed for luck) some of your pages soon. I enjoy the thought you put into each journal to enhance the story and theme. Amazing, Jibid, absolutely amazing ! I'm sending admiration across "The Big Pond". xoxoxo Sharon

As a self-confessed bibliophile, I waited all day so that I could have my 'Jibid-fix' without interruption. It's Friday night here in Australia - the family is sorted, the dog is snoring in his bed beside my desk 🐶 ... and I have my cup of tea and 22:43 minutes of bookish bliss. 📚Thank you Jibid. It was worth waiting for. You are an inspiring artist. I love this quote about books. “If you truly love a book, you should sleep with it, write in it, read aloud from it, and fill its pages with muffin crumbs.” ― Anne Fadiman I thought it was suitable for the occasion. Take care ...xo 🍪😉

Jibid, your journals always keep me glued to my seat but, as I'm sure you know, any reference to Jane Austen immediately turns that glue into superglue :-) I love the ball invitation, the dance card and the letter from Jane to Lizzie, just to mention a few. The book theme has never before been presented in such an imaginative and innovative way. You are an Arts and Crafts movement all on your own, Jibid. In your own words you have summed up everything that you do and encourage us to do by your inspiration; you bring beauty back into functional things, you help make creativity accessible to everyone with your digital downloads and you put thought into your designs which lifts them up from being purely functional into something we can enjoy using. You are a skilful and talented bookbinder; you invent pockets, mini books, revive long gone features like library cards and pockets and all the time, you draw on past inspiration which you add to present creativity and ideas which are well ahead of your time. Origami birds, resin library cards, kilt pins and stamped finger nails; there is no end to your originality :-)

A•B•S•O•L•U•T•E•L•Y F•A•B•U•L•O•U•S 🖤🖤 I was mesmerised by all your details and kept rewinding parts of the video to watch them again and again. Putting the brooch in the sewn piece of script fabric, Wow! Lining The Binding with the torn pages is functional and adds such interest to each page. And sewing the lines in the paper!!!! And doing the tuck spot at an angle with the notepad that is also angled to fit in perfectly. The quotes were a perfect little addition. Love it all. Geeeeze!!! Looking at this book got me so excited. It reinforced in me why I love to create with paper and fabric. It is so refreshing to see someone who likes to create new things and not just copy what's already being done. Thank you for giving me some awesome things to copy, with permission of course. Hahaha. ♥️♥️♥️ PS...love the way you decorated your nails.

The paper added near the hinge does make the book fulller and I feel more visually appealing! Looks more like a standard bound book. And it may reinforce the pages as well...not to mention any vintage pages of interest used to showcase. Usually old paper s can crumble if you flip through it. I really like it down the middle and all the space for the writing where it is easier to write is genius!! Great Ideas from a Great Artist!! TFS!

Jibid, I had to laugh at my own response when you finally revealed the reason for the book pages being glued down the center. You always spoil us with elaborate stories and concepts, so I kept thinking you would say something like the torn pages were to represent the past lives of the book, or that the pages were peeling themselves away to create room for the new owner's thoughts, or some other such whimsical thing, and my mind was whirling to come up with something clever and Jibid-like...and in the end it was actually for a practical purpose! I had to laugh at myself a little. Look what a deep thinker you inspire others to be! ;) Elaborate scheme or no, it is beautiful as usual; you are the queen of detail. I absolutely love that script charm with that tiny bird swinging from the bottom! Only you could manage to make an origami bird look so cheeky and have such personality!

What fantastic ideas you had! :-) x
@ephemerathief6 жыл бұрын
Gillian Farago, haha, thank you! It's fun to find like-minded people who also get carried away by imagination, isn't it? I started thinking about those torn pages...and wouldn't it be fantastic to create a book that had been "burned?" Perhaps it had held some amazing secret that the new owner was desperately trying to uncover as they restored the book? You could let the pages crinkle up a bit and "singe" the top layer with ink. So many ideas you could use for those amazing pages! (Says the person who has yet to complete one journal, but already has 11 running concepts written down!)
