In today's video, we're taking you on a vlogging journey to two of our favorite bookshops in LA! While I chose a shop that is closer to home, and has a unique collection, Monique went for one of her favorite used book stores in North Hollywood. We wanted to switch up the content for today's video and give you guys a more aesthetic look at where we live. I hope you enjoy!! 💕

ABOUT THE SHOPS:
📖 Skylight Books, located in Los Feliz and right on the edge of East Hollywood, is a tidy, tucked away shop with unconvential titles, as well as some more popular bestsellers. The shop also carries great gift options from local artists, zines written by local writers, and products made by local vendors. The location also has a live tree living inside at the center of its main room, which makes it quite a unique experience.
📖 The Iliad, located in North Hollywood, is your one stop shop for every sort of used book (and genre) you can imagine. It's inside is lined with shelves upon shelves of quality paperbacks, hardcopies, books on tape, and other items that are yearning for a second home. The best part about this shop is not just the bodega cats, BUT the amazing prices. You can get some books in this shop for $.50!

@@theroomiesdigest My range is quite all over the place lol but I bought a 1949 American Almanac (i love anything 20’s-40’s from music to movies idk just something about that time period), 2 WWII books “Operation Kronstadt” and “Tuxedo Park” adding onto that time period I like learning about WWII history and the stories of those who helped the Jews and end the war, “The Road to Character” as I am an extreme introvert and need a personality lol, “The Fingersmith” by Sarah Waters I love her work and the time period she uses to frame her stories, A Short Introduction on British Politics needed for my college class, and lastly “How Did It Begin: The Origins of Our Curious Customs and Superstitions” this is such a fun read that I’d like to learn about random things like why are black cats bad luck and add into my commonplace journal that I’ve been keeping up. If you can’t tell I’m really excited to share lol but if it wasn’t for ya’ll I wouldn’t have bought these books today!!

OK, I guess I'm a little late to the party here. But, Nice, I like Mo's nonfiction picks! I love the Oxford University Very Short Introduction series, from which volumes I've read (there's hundreds of them). I actually the volumes for Continental Philosophy, and Leibniz (coinventor of calculus separately but concurrently along with Newton). Regarding the Trump Cult one, I just checked out from the library something on the dastardly campaign partnership of Trump and Steve Bannon, and found at the library on sale something on the history and development of populism. Mo should definitely look into the book about the secret/little-known or -taught history of our nation's monuments, which also discusses the controversy behind the recent cry for takedowns as well as memorialization and its connection to power---called Smashing Statues by Erin L. Thompson. I also found The Westing Game thrifting (50 cents), so I need to get to it already. I didn't realize Christine worked in acting; it works well for her personality. I noticed there was no fantasy picked up, though! /shock
