I was wondering how to get text on book cloth without using vinyl and I was pulling my hair out researching increasingly expensive ways to print. I would have never thought of a stencil! This is great!

I was searching information about the restoration of a water-damaged book. Now I would create a personal Asimov collection. Ahahahaha...

O kadar iyi ki yerli yabancı bu konuda çalışma yapanların en iyilerinden birisiniz. Diğer ülkelerdeki kapaklara baktım bu kapağın yakınına bile yaklaşan yok. Saygılar, sevgiler. (Ishamael)

So cool! These are a great way to make cloth covers fancier without using leather, I love the result. What was it that you used to make the stencil for the title?? Did you cut it manually?
@BBRCNGL3 жыл бұрын
Thank you... It is regular adhesive vinyl sheet. I cut it with Silhouette Cameo plotter machine.

I love your videos, your cover designs are always so beautiful! But for the love of god man PLEASE BUY A BIGGER PAINT BRUSH... anyways, love your work....it just had to be said....
@BBRCNGL3 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I have a bigger paint brush :) I intentionally use smaller brush because if you use bigger paint brush for painting sides, there will be much thicker paint. That means pages will stick together.

What kind of paper are you using for the endpages ? Great video btw

Do you think sawing the spine then adding cords is unnecessary?
@BBRCNGL3 жыл бұрын
Hi. I don’t think it is unnecessary. Sewing, gluing and sawing are different methods of bind a book. Sawing the spine and adding cords is more traditional way.
@robertphillips933 жыл бұрын
Removing any paper or kerfing the spine will reduce the gutter margin significantly, and gluing cords or thread will adversely affect openability. So, careful removal of old brittle glue as you did helps spine flexibility -- as long as sufficient PVA and cloth reinforcement is added. Usual for most books would have been another layer of cloth glued to the spine and extending over the pastedown 2 cm or so. This relieves strain on the paper/case attachment at the hinge -- but the paperback here is light enough and the endpapers are stout enough it's probably not a serious issue. In any case (no pun intended) the star of the show is that dazzling cover!
