The practice screen is such a great idea, and the book looks cute. I really love that you always show the sewing up close and clearly as well as use bright colored thread. Some videos i watch i can't tell what's going on when it's white thread on white paper and the camera is so far away.

This looks like a fun stitch! I also like the idea of using postcards as covers. I’m getting some travel-related ideas for how to use a little book made with postcard covers. I’ll have to let that percolate for a bit. Thanks for the tip on using plastic canvas to practice bookbinding stitches! I hadn’t thought of it, but once you tou stated it and showed your practice piece for this stitch, it made perfect sense.

Can you do a video on how to recover old paperbacks or damaged/ugly hardbacks? I have a bunch of discarded library books but would love to give them new life with a nice cover :-)
@recoveringsoul7553 жыл бұрын
I think I've seen that on another channel, paperbacks into hardcovers, hardcovers given new covers, and I think even e-books printed and bound into physical form. Try searching those subjects. It may depend on how the original was bound if it's possible

@@recoveringsoul755 the binding purpes is to hold the peges togethr, so... How thet's supposed to work?
@recoveringsoul7553 жыл бұрын
@@fox-n-done This video example does not have any spine. this video has signatures sewn to each other.. To offer more sturdiness and protection of the threads against wear and tear, if there was a spine and it was covered it would just be more durable. Depends on what your purpose is and how long you want it to last. Your question makes it seem like you don't know what the spine of a book is.

I think that the mesh practice board has potential in a bookbinder's studio to frame as a "Sampler" like embroiderers make. Use different colors of thread.

I absolutely love all your tutorials! They’re so much fun and inspiring. I followed your DIY Coptic Stitch sketchbook tutorial last night and made my first watercolor sketchbook... but I couldn’t find anything to wrap the cover with, so I used 100% cotton from a fabric shop. It’s usually used for making pants. Do you think it’ll be safe for my paintings? I couldn’t find out if it was acid-free.

Hi, Iove your channel and have made several Coptic stitch journals from your instructions. I do mixed media work in my journals, and I'm wondering if there's a way to put spacers in the signatures. Currently my journals end up not closing....

Isabelle, what type of glue and tape do you have and what type and color of paper? Also do you have some old magazines or junk mail ads? What do you have to color or write with? Any paints, markers, colored pencils or crayons?

@@isabellepoynter5193 Thanks for the quick reply. Is your paper plain or lined? How about pens, pencils, crayons etc. The reason I am asking detailed questions is because I want to make a video shout out to crafters challenging them to use only the types of materials you have available to you. Not everyone has or can get the things shown in many of the videos on KZbin. But I am sure a lot of these crafters can make some lovely, creative things with limited supplies.
