@Let's Play Like I said, there could ha e been different ways to go about it of that was the case. We also need to remember this wpuld have counted as MURDER, not BATTLE in a PUB. If this was a battle field, then yeah. He could play it off a friendly fire. But this was a pub if I recall correctly. I doubt he trying to kill Alois, but he never apoloze or even told him the truth. So it COULD be interpret as attempt murder or a test like you said. But I argue he was inresopable all the same. He could lead a fight amd run a group. But as we seen, he not exactly a perfect human being. Im not saying he bad, but he not a person I would trust blindly like Alois and Leonie does.
