You're killing it! Really flying through these. I haven't heard much about this one and it was great to get your take on it. Good to know that you can enjoy it without reading the others. Your reviews are definitely helping me decide which longlisted titles I want to check out. Great job! Looking forward to the next one.

Great review! Loved your discussion on class- I remember loving how distinct Lucy's voice was (and how frustrating William was!)
@kiranreader2 жыл бұрын
seems like he is still a bit frustrating in this book!! lol!! but we learn a lot more about his personality which i think softens him as a character in a lovely way. let me know if you end up reading the book and ty for watching!!!

@@kiranreader I read Oh William not realizing it wasn't a stand-alone until half way through lol. I think I'd be curious to see how the first two books add to his character.

@@DogEaredMusings agreed!! the first two books prob do add a lot more context to william

Read the trilogy and loved it. Like you Kiran, I hadn't expected to enjoy Strout's writing so much! Are you planning on reading more of her work?
@kiranreader2 жыл бұрын
same!! i hadn't expected to like her writing as much as I did! i'm def open to reading more of her work but right now i gotta work myself through 5 more bookers books 😂

Interesting to see how it hits with you, not having read the other two. I liked it a lot too. The others I liked too, but it def hit better knowing some stuff from the other books for me. And seeing the improvement maybe augmented the experience for me too? Maybe?

yea i def don't have a whole picture of who lucy is, but i was still able to connect w/ her story having only read one of the three books

I think this book is much better than the other books in the series, particularly the 2nd book - unfortunately I took a different route to you by reading both books before this one and I was bitter and jaded before starting this book... More so that usual. Great to hear your thoughts

yea i think you're the second person i've heard who has described a similar experience. seems like the third is the most evolved of the 3 books

Sold on this one after your review! It is especially good to know that I don't necessarily need to read the previous books too. I love a good book about class.

I am glad you liked, but I have read 3 books by Elizabeth strout, and I don’t get it…

i think i had low expectations about this book and was pleasantly surprised! initially, in the first 20-30 pages i actually found lucy to be a little annoying lol!! but then i found myself interested in her world. interesting how that works out!! which 3 strout novels did you read?
