The real issue Sting should’ve had, was not what The Rock did, but how Triple H buried Booker T. That was the ultimate burial. Ironically enough, once Sting joined, who did he lose to? Triple H.

Some fans see it as a burial but Booker was already over when HHH beat him. So saying he should have won to get over is kind of an insult lol. And Sting should have lost to HHH cause it was WCW V WWE and what happened in the end?? Sting screwed Sting

Exactly I think 98' was at its peak because WWF brought in Mike Tyson who was just done biting Holyfield's ear. & also Rodman & Malone both went to WCW right after The Last Dance. Which around 20 million people watched...it was awesome to watch tv. & all you needed was basic cable tv. Monday nights was between USA Channel & TNT & then you got Chicago Bulls playing their final year watching it on NBC. What a time it was in 1998...

Agree! And those were indeed some classic long matches Sting had with that next generation talent. The strikes of those guys were right up Sting's alley as he came up in that last classic era of " make it real, hit me harder". And the fact that he was putting over great young talent was one of the best parts of his tenure at TNA. I think the WWF/E mindset in 01 would have him as just another from the other company. And the fact that they keep reaching out to him so many times became an company ego thing as it became clear to even casual viewers that the greatest Babyface wrestler of the last 25-30 yrs had never wrestled for the biggest company on the planet.

Who? Fk watches TNA anyways? Wrestling was on a slow demise after 2002. If Sting would've gone to WWE even after the Invasion angle settled down, he would've exploded back into popularity with matches against Taker, Jeff, Kane, even Triple H (without losing) for a back2back and finished off with the Rock (return from Hollywood break) with a Sting remark "Who the hell are you?!" To the Rock would've been awesome.

Due respect to Jericho, he was still on his way up. Plus, Jericho was a heel and had been a cruiserweight. If anything, Jericho had the ability to be able to overcome that. Sting WAS WCW. Treating Sting like a jabroni would be like treating Ric Flair, Hogan, Undertaker or Savage like a jabroni. Some guys you don’t do that to. Even years later when Sting did come to WCW, they beat us over the head that “Sting was a big fish in a small pond.” So apparently the WWE’s definition of a small pond is Hogan, Flair, Savage, Goldberg, Piper, Hall, Nash, Malenko, Guerrero, Benoit, The Giant, Luger, Booker T, Steiner Bros, Meng, Barbarian, etc. Compare that to the big pond of WWF....Austin, Rock, Undertaker, Triple H, Foley.....and the supporting cast...Mean Street Posse, Val Venis, The Oddities, Jeff Jarrett, Billy Gunn, Mark Henry, and a bunch of other boring wrestlers. Top to bottom, that WCW pond had a helluva lot more whales that WWF’s. But to give you the mindset of WWF employees, in a podcast, Bruce Prichard said that Goldberg made a fool of himself by yelling at Triple H because “no one knew who Goldberg was.” Goldberg had been on Jay Leno and was on the cover of tv guide. Triple H was IC champion. In the WWF mindset, the IC champion is on par with Michael Jordan and the WCW champion who was getting a shit ton of mainstream press was the scrub player at the YMCA.

Jericho did get buried for a decent while. Go back and watch the episodes, Jericho did one more big promo against Undertaker where he owned him, then WWF got mad at him and he was forced to be a midcarder (and not an upper midcarder) for over a year. The crowd reactions Jericho got were always wildly disproportionate with his place in the company except for a very brief while where he got to main event with the likes of Stone Cold and The Rock (btw how the hell was all of a sudden not good enough when they left? Because he got buried in a Triple HHH/Stephanie storyline). Though I give them a pass for his tiny title reigns, it was pretty much the same for Rock back then. Also Jericho wasn't even seen as a WCW guy, in the shitty Invasion storyline he "defected" from team WWE to WCW but it was a fakeout, and he nearly always fought for team WWE.

I agree with Sting on this one. His body of work in wcw is legendary. Given the opportunity, wwe would have tried to taint it more than they did same goes for DDP. HHH tried his best to bury Booker, luckily Booker believed his best story wasn't told yet. Sting ending up in a dress, with a mop or kissing vince ass would be ridiculous. Win lose or draw, Booker in his first 4 years in the company worked with the biggest stars in the WWE. 2001 The Rock, a short-lived feud with Stone Cold, had a successful run with Goldust in 2002, worked with Triple H in 2003, and worked with The Greatest Superstar that has EVER stepped in a WWE Ring The Undertaker. 4 out of one were former World Champions, Rock, Austin, Triple H, Undertaker. Booker clearly had it made by working with those 4 World Champions and a Tag Run with Goldust. 2001-2004 Booker had in my opinion some memorable moments with those stars.

Booker is a really good dude. He has a optimistic personality and he would never say nothing about WWE. With that being said based on Vince's patterns of ego through out the years... STING WAS RIGHT. He didn't miss out on anything really. Even when Booker won titles they were mostly unclean wins. And if you notice a lot of wrestlers who came from wcw would hold only the wcw championship and not the WWF championship. But WWF wrestlers held wcw championships. Now I know what you're gonna say; "But Jericho held a WWF title" yeah but Jericho chose to leave wcw. He wasn't forced to go there nor was he a significant part of Vince's ass kicking in the Monday Night Wars. Vince couldn't have Hunter put Sting over a legend but he had him put over Ronda Rousey? The invasion needed atleast 3 people to make it better. Flair, Sting and Stevie Ray. Anyone else could have came at different times such as the NWO and Goldberg. Obviously having those off the bat would have been amazing. But with Flair he should have been the Co-Owner. Sting would have given you a top face and Stevie would have given you a legendary tag team along with Booker to complete against the Dudleys, Hardys, Edge and Christian and The Brothers of Destruction. Having these 3, you wouldn't have needed to add Austin and Angle as the vocal point of The Alliance and could have extended the angle until the NWO arrived. I would have had Big Show, The Radicals and Jericho also join team WCW and to fill up your WCW Nitro or WCW Smackdown roster whenever they win a show.

I think Harlem Heat would have had some GREAT matches in the WWF/E, but Stevie Ray on his own? I've always been a fan, but him on his own is like Marty without Shawn, or Robert without Ricky or just seeing ONE of the Road Warriors. The trouble with the other BIG WCW names is that they were either still under a contract with Turner/Time Warner or they simply didn't want to go.

The Radicals yes, but WCW misused Jericho. He left well before anyone knew WWE was purchasing WCW. They teased his arrival for months. Big Show also arrived to WWF/E long before the invasion angle. Look at what Vince did to DDP... Goldberg... Booker T... Scott Steiner... the f**king NWO... and eventually yes, Sting himself despite years of hesitation!!! How could Booker seriously sit there and act like he doesn't understand the issue with that? "It was entertainment", right but nobody found the continuous burial of WCWA's top talents entertaining Booker. Only Vince, JR, and probably Triple H actually found that to be hilarious. Most wrestling fans (including the majority of WWF fans) were pissed off at the disrespect and tasteless nature Vince showed when booking WCW guy, to this very day Vince has Triple H and Undertaker defeating Sting and Goldberg for no other reason than "Screw WCW, those are WWE guys their facing!"... Book, get real man.

I disagree with Booker T. Sting did not want to sell his self worth and soul to the WWE. He was proud of what he had accomplished and did not want his efforts dashed to one side as the lesser wrestler for £££££. Sting did what was right for him. Yes he could have had more £££££££ but he was not in it solely for that and did well with what he had. Sometimes your talent, self worth and effort goes above WWE or a place like it, wrestling or otherwise. Sorry to say but the WWE are not the only promotion out there even if they are the biggest that doesn't mean they are the best to work for, even if you do get the grand stage to perform. I am so, so, so glad that sting did things his way. He aint BROKE and he was never DESPERATE to be a part of WWE. When he joined WWE it was on his terms, he was ready, end of, late or otherwise he wasn't desperate for a paycheck, WWE was a tick box for his legacy, to say I did it my way. He got into the hall of fame. Job done. Look what they did when he did join. At least he had done a lot with his career before they deliberately buried him. He knew this but by then it didn't matter. I applaud Sting. Guy used his head not his heart to salvage his dignity unlike others. Also it has been said many time before by other fans. Sting did not need Vince to become a megastar. He did it all on his own. (Sure Booker T said something similar on those lines i.e Tessa Blanchard. That she built her self, well Sting did exactly that without being a racist or bully.)

Even though Sting obviously should have gone over in his WrestleMania match with Triple H, Hunter nor Vince were going to let WCW's biggest star come on their biggest annual PPV and beat one of their top guys. If their match had been at any other PPV then Sting probably would've gone over. Much like Vince told Bret Hart that WCW would never know what to do with a Bret Hart, WWE didn't know what to do with Sting once they got him and his fears were right all along. They made a lot of money off his merchandising but jobbed him nearly every time he wrestled for them. Say what you may about TNA/Impact Wrestling but they at least treated him like the top draw and legend he was at the end of the day during his tenure there.

Ric Flair told him to go a long time ago even after the whole Hogan vs sting and he still stayed with WCW but he did fucked up on not going there sooner. Even sting had said it before that he met up with Vince and that they were kind to him and had big plans for him but that one little thing when he saw the rock say that to booker T then that was it and didn’t wanted to go but at the end his career ended with the WWE and they had him loosing every single match pretty much they did him dirty at the end cause they really don’t need a 56yr old sting. They needed sting 18yrs ago pff not now. Vince is only doing it now just to give the legends a little tv time. But if only he had gone to the WWF back in 2001.

Yet he finally came in freaking 2014 in his post mid 50s, never giving a single good year of his career to the company & the marks here expected him to be treated like Undertaker & get put over top loyal WWE guys. Heck no, he was used exactly how someone of his age should have been used, put over WWE guys.

If you go back and look at the timeline of when Sting said this, I don't believe any of the former WCW stars that came over AFTER WCW closed were being used in a manner that was all that flattering. I think that interview was before the King Bookah title run and before Rey's first run as well. I think only Goldberg had been given a run with the title. Come to think of it, Booker came in with the WCW title and was quickly beaten for it. I totally understand what Sting was talking about. Look at what they did to DDP, making him a stalker. And let's not forget what HHH did to Booker at WrestleMania. How about the whole invasion angle? Now Sting did give Booker a lot of credit in that interview, saying Booker was able to overcome it because he's a talented guy, but I don't see how anyone could blame Sting for not trusting how he'd be used and as it turned out, he was largely right.

@Stang5.0 killsya Not all WCW stars were buried. Atleast not like that. I don't think Ric Flair got buried. I mean he did have a decent run, had the opportunity to wrestle Undertaker and he won the intercontinental championship. Hulk Hogan came in and won the WWE championship from Triple H. Sting was only there for a short stint but I don't think he was buried in that way. Although he lost to Triple H, atleast he had the opportunity to headline Wrestlemania. Booker T and DDP were the only examples of being ' buried '. Booker T was buried by The Rock aswell as being the butter of his jokes. DDP was Sara's bitch and her stalker. I'm surprised he even agreed to along with such stupid storyline. I would also say Kevin Nash was almost buried too. Losing to the likes of Test and Y2J. His run was terrible but then he ended up breaking his leg. Same could be said with Scott Hall who lost so miserably to Stone Cold. Match lasted less than 10 minutes and ended with a double stunner.

What Booker tells that he never thought Sting will see it that way is no surprise as Sting has got a different analytical mindset which one can often admire even during his tenure in TNA or now in AEW. Sting's opinion (as he told JBL in an interview) that Vince wanted him more to undermine WCW rather than his talent was spot on. As far as Booker's opinion that Sting's guardedness caused him many opportunities may be true but Sting has done excellent work in WCW already and followed it up in TNA and now in AEW. I love Booker but Sting will always be special because he stayed true to his principles and loyalty which is rare for a wrestling star. Would I have loved to see Sting go head to head with the Undertaker or Kane or Brock Lesner in WWE? Yes. In a heartbeat. But even without that Sting has been brilliant with whatever he has achieved. So respect to both Sting and Booker for their own perspectives.

I found it weird at the time when Sting said that, especially as he was like "I'll never forget that moment" and he *_didn't even remember the moment right._* He just enjoys being a big fish in a little pond. Not a knock, but he didn't want to be just a WCW invader. He SHOULD have come in later, but he was too comfortable in TNA.

That was not the moment that sting made his decision through. The rock said that while having A match when Booker got into the ring. He said "who are you" without the mic.

Not always about the money. Sting wasent a fan of WWE for several reasons. Who's to say he wouldn't have had creative differences, walked out and got the Warrior treatment

There’s no reason to even think Booker was mistreated he came in as the champ and was parked with the owners son for promos and as a manager.... even tho the stunts he was in were crazy like getting the shit beat outta him in a market but that’s only because he’s a great actor it’s believable and he’s a big name

In Sting's defense he was a lot bigger star than Booker T. Where as Booker T was just trying to build his singles career.... we can try to pretend that WWE didn't try to bury everybody from WCW but we would just be lying to ourselves. I don't think Sting was worrying about money as much as he was worried about all the dues he had paid & all the work he spent in making that character a star. Really... at that time imagine The Rock asking Sting "who are you?" One year removed from Nitro being the hottest wrestling show on the planet...Booker T. has said plenty of times he was willing to start over that's why he didn't sit home and collect those Time Warner checks. Everybody knows how petty WWE is...when he finally showed up they couldn't wait to bring back up the Monday Night Wars which had already been over with for 15years & put Hunter Horse Helmsley over him at Maina which pissed me off... I'm not mad at Booker T but just say you did it for the $ & didn't mind getting buried...The Rock not knowing who you are, Austin dumping flour on him & beating his ass in a grocery store & HHH beating him at Mania that everybody agreed Booker T. Should have won in a Feud that had racist undertones.. Sting was right...WWE is extremely Petty..

I think book was looking at it as a money grab n stig was looking at it as a character assassination, but Book had a great career at wwe, but sting was such and icon and global he didn't do it for the money he has always been like that, he knew the money will always be there, because look who's still working and still getting checks. Sting didn't need wwe to be an iconic, he was already iconic when he went there.

I’m sure Booker T is keeping quiet just to keep a good relationship with the WWE, but he knows what Sting is saying is true. I’m sure both Booker T and Sting agree with CM Punk in resenting Triple H for not doing what was best for business and putting them all over.
