According to the FMCSA if you hold a CDL but do not operate a CMV with a GCVWR not over 26000lb you are not subject to drug screening requirements. We had 2 drivers in this situation. We researched on our own and called our local state and federal office. They all agreed that no drug screening was required for the 2 drivers.

glad someone could clear this up because I have my class A and just purchased a box truck. with this climate, having a semi is a headache. And I like to have fun on my off time without the whole drug screening, you know what I mean 😊..

@@BookkeepingExpert yes exactly, definitely don't want to lose your cdl. I am registered with clearing house because of having my class A from a previous job but, with having my own authority for 3 months now with a non-cdl box truck, I haven't been told yet that I have to comply with the drug screening rules and regulations. We"ll see when my audit comes around😳. im actually going to call the FMCSA Monday and ask🥴.

You said some very interesting things in the vid. I am very similar to that customer. I have a CDL also however I a full time teacher so I am off during the summer. I still want to run box truck using Amazon relay. I will start out renting a box truck and leaving my profit in to save for a down-payment.

If I run power only semi ($1500 mo payment)VS. a box truck ($1000/mo payment) with my own authority, what do you think the difference in weekly profit might be if I hire a driver?

Power only makes $3/mile and box trucks make $2/mile. You should be able to calculate the rest with that info

I have question I know we talking about trucks but I seen videos people saying they make money with Cargo van and hot shot trucks just wondering your thought's on them because gas prices being so crazy. Then later on moving up to trucks.

You can't drive a Semi unless you have a CDL. You will need to either 1) drive a box truck or 2) get your CDL
