Time to spill my guts out in my nostalgic mood lol I use to be very big into booktube 8-9 years ago and you were one my absolute favs! When I got to the end of high school/early 20s I fell out of my strong love of reading and booktube. Work, life and, never enough time all the normal excuses. These past 6ish months i've been rekindling that what I thought was a long lost love with the help my collection of Stephen King I never stopped buying (currently reading It for the first time!) Out of the blue the other day I thought of you and had to come looking and I can't describe how happy I was to see you still making videos, and seeing i'm not the only one who drives around with a skeleton in the back of their car lmao So I just wanted to say thanks for being a constant for me from 15 years old to my current 25 even if I trailed off a little lol You even made a native Michigander consider going to Ohio to check out these stores and that's a hard sell lmao

It made me tear up a bit that someone who watched my videos at the very beginning (I still can’t believe I’ve been doing this for over 10 years!) would remember me and come looking. A basement in a second hand bookstore has a skeleton mannequin in its horror section as a little bit of fun. The owner brought it at a yard sale for $10. It's constantly falling over and frightening the customers, "damn, ghost" the owner mutters. Meanwhile the ghost is sitting in the corner reading an old beaten up book, "hey, don't look at me. You're the one who brought a cursed skeleton into the shop."

Love these jaunts outside of the library! The haunted basement in that bookstore reminded me so much of a used book store I go to over here, where they have the best stuff in the back, right near the darkened room full of mannequins and overturned shopping carts. It's staffed by volunteers, although you hardly ever see them until it's time to actually pay (they are probably the mannequins, to be honest).

I want to shop at a haunted bookstore! That sounds so cool. 🥺 And so much variety, and so many amazing horror gems in the shelves! The bookstores near me are only haunted by King and Koontz titles taking up 99% of the horror sections. 😫 I’ve been collecting Leisure paperbacks lately, too! Specifically I’m hunting down all their Ketchum titles. I, too, love how uniform and compact they look.

Chelsea Quinn Yarbro is one of my best friends in the horror community. I do have to say that the horror in that series comes from humanity. The vampires are heroic, but they are still excellent books. She treats people in historic eras as “just people,” and I feel like I’ve learned something after reading them. Those are in a series but the books are not chronological so they can be read in any order. That being said, “Blood Games” is a great place to start. The series overall is the most realistic depiction of vampires I’ve come across. Speaking of vampires, I found an extra copy of “The Lost Boys” novelization if you are interested. Oh, and I found Joan Samson’s “The Auctioneer” yesterday for 10 cents. In Mystery ;)

I don't know if it's something to brag about but I have read "Rasputin's Revenge". It's more of a mystery than horror. Sometimes with books you have trouble settling in and I had issues buying into that the lead was French or he was actually rattling around Russia in the time period.

Psychology can explain feeling spooked in certain places. It must have old piping. Which emits low vibrations we cannot hear, which causes us to feel spooked or uneasy as the vibration old pipes emit is on the same sound frequency as what natural disasters like earthquakes and tsunamis. Animals also respond to this frequency for that self same reasoning. It’s a response built into our genetics for self preservation. Doesn’t explain people feeling like they’re hit but scratches could easily happen as this type of frequency can cause auditory and visual hallucinations. Interesting huh 😁

I did make a little joke about the book you mentioned in one of your videos about Jonathan Rand, about the name he came up with pertaining to dust bunnies. My joke was a name of Night of the living dust bunnies. I am sorry about that joke, because I know you said when you found out that he came out with a book like Attack of the killer Dust Bunnies from Outer space, that it shattered you. I hope that comment didn't offend you in anyway. I do think that was wrong of Jonathan Rand to take other people's ideas and twist them. Just wanted you to know in case, I'm sorry.
