Thank you so much for the lesson. Before I was converted in this LDS church.. Really I tried a lot to understand The Bible( New and Old Testament) of course I read it.. And in desperation I prayed God I couldn't understand it.. Then when the missionaries gave me The Book of Mormon and truly amazed of its plainness.. I prayed about it then got baptized. During my course of being a member truly amazed of those revelations I received(it's true I found a big library in The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saint). Through the help of The First Presidency and the quorum of the Twelve really I understand The Bible now in partnership with The Book Of Mormon. I know I have so many weaknesses but truly blessed by this church. I love this church and the gospel of Jesus Christ. I love President Russel M. Nelson and the local leaders. I love you tube now because of the wonderful lessons and teachers in order for me to understand The Book of Mormon. God bless for both of you Bro. Tyler and Bro. Taylor.

I loved this lesson, you guys do an amazing job. Thank you! I think the cruise ship metaphor could be combined with the "Old ship Zion" analogy from Brigham Young, as referenced by Elder Ballard in both 2015 conferences. I don't think God throw's people overboard when they break their covenantal relationship with Him, I think it's more like they are choosing to leave the ship, because they want to take a nice dip in the inviting waters, or go explore a cool looking island they happen to be passing. It's hard work to stay on the ship, and sometimes a break can be inviting, or sometimes people just don't want to do it anymore. I think it's a subtle difference, but an important one, to know that God never really kicks us out, so much as we leave Him by our choices. Thanks again guys! I love your video's!!

Thank you to you both again. I know you guys are going light on introducing a few fundamental Hebrew perspectives for the average member. As a Hebrew scholar and Church member I‘ll add and clarify a few deeper Hebrew points as follows… LAW OR TORAH? The Torah (often called “Law”) is comprised of 613 instructions (or Taryag Mitzvot including 248 do’s, and 365 do not instructions). The Torah is more correctly defined as “Instructions or teaching from G-d” and not a Law (which is a Greek Hellenistic term tied to “nomos”). When we read both the Old Testament and the Book of Mormon we find repeated key terms from Torah such as “statutes, commandments, judgements, charges, testimonies”. Each of these signifies a class of Torah instruction as outlined below. A BREAKDOWN OF THE TARYAG MITZVOT (WHAT CHRISTIANS CALL “LAW”) The Hebrew term mitzvah (מִצְוָה) is a general term often used for any commandment given by G-d, whereas the term mitzvot (מִצְוֹת) is the plural expression and can be further divided into the subcategories called chukkim u'mishpatim (Deut. 4:5): Chukkim (חֻקִּים) are 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗲𝘀 given without a reason (i.e., fiats or divine decrees). As such they are sometimes called "supra-rational" decrees. The classic example is the chukkah (sing.) regarding the Red Heifer, which, legend has it, defied even the wisdom of King Solomon. Other examples include dietary law (kashrut), the prohibition of mixing seeds or fabrics (kilayim), or the laws concerning family purity (niddah). These instructions can seem irrational to human reason, but YeHoVaH has a purpose we can’t always comprehend. These are commandments that fall into the “deeper mysteries of G-d” category. Zot chukat haTorah (זאת חֻקַּת הַתּוֹרָה) - "this is the Torah's decree...." which we therefore accept as a commandment that transcends our abilities to rationally fathom. That is, when asked why we would do what is here commanded, we can only appeal to the fact that the YeHoVaH has commanded such - and that settles the issue. Mishpatim (מִשְׁפָּטִים) are instructions given for a clearly specified reason (i.e., logical laws). An example would be the commandment to give charity or the prohibitions against theft and murder. These mitzvot are inherently rational and appeal to the need for ethical unity (civil and moral life) within the community. Note: eidot (עֵדוֹת) are 𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀 (from the root 'ed, "witness") that commemorate or represent something -- e.g., the commandments to observe Shabbat and the holidays, to put on tefillin, wear tzitzit, eat matzah on Passover, blow a shofar, etc. Since they commemorate or symbolically represent something, the eidot occupy a sort of middle ground between the rationally understandable mishpatim and the supra-rational chukkim. Note further that a brit (בְּרִית) refers to a specific agreement or "covenant" made between the Sovereign KING and his people. All the various commandments, statutes, decrees, and so on are contextualised in terms of the underlying covenant and are expressed as obligations of the covenant. THE MEANING OF THE BOOK OF THE LAW, BOOK OF THE COVENANT AND TEN COMMANDMENTS IS NOT CLEARLY DEFINED ANYWHERE The Ark of the Covenant contained the tablets with the ten commandments, but there was additionally the Book of the Law, and the Book of the Covenant attached alongside the Manna and Aaron’s budded rod (what was the difference between the Book of the Law, the Book of the Covenant, and the Ten Commandments has never been explained convincingly). ISAIAH CHAPTER 56 SHOWS THE JEW AND GENTILE IN ZION WORSHIPPING TOGETHER In Isaiah 56:1-8 we see the Jew and the Gentile worshiping together based on obedience to Shabbat, and in Isaiah 2:3; Micah 4:2; Zechariah 14:16; Revelation 18:2 the Torah (Law) shall go forth out of Zion in the Millennium, Feast of Tabernacles will be kept, and unclean animals are still recorded. In Matthew 5:17-19 Yeshua makes it clear the Torah will not be fulfilled until a new Heaven and Earth occur. This new heaven and earth happens in Revelation 21:1, at the end of the Millennium when death and sin are cast into the lake of fire and we enter into eternity with Yeshua Ha’Mashiach (Jesus the Christ) and what the Jews call the 8th day (Shimini Atzeret) THE TORAH IS NOT TOTALLY FULFILLED UNTIL THE 8TH DAY AFTER SIN AND DEATH ARE DESTROYED The Book of Revelation tells us the last things to be destroyed at the end of the Millennium is sin and death (Torah defines sin and the penalty was death for serious sins). The seventh day of Sukkot is known as Hoshana Rabbah while the eighth day is known as Shmini Atzeret and the day after is called Simchat Torah. Hoshana Rabbah is known as the day of the final sealing of judgment, which began on Rosh Hashanah.

Dear Brethren, My wife and I love your discussions, Two thing I need to mention, I think your emphasis on Joseph intelligence is way off, please note his words from the Wentworth Letter, ( the only know written account by Joseph) : After having received many visits from the angels of God, unfolding the majesty and glory of the events that should transpire in the last days, on the morning of the 22nd of September, A.D. 1827, the angel of the Lord delivered the records into my hands. " He was school by angels, revelations and dreams after Moroni visited him. The second one is most important, Bad Bad Bad, Joseph DID NOT have a seer stone. Eber D. Hale created that story (as far as I can tell from limited research), in 1834, the first ANTI Mormon book publish called “Mormonism Unveiled” in that awful book he made up the story of the seer stone. No one (as far as I can tell) ever heard of a seer stone before that publication. All of the supporting documents were mysterious discovered in the latter half of the 1900’s. Also from the Wentworth letter, : With the records was found a curious instrument, which the ancients called “Urim and Thummim,” which consisted of two transparent stones set in the rims of a bow fastened to a breastplate. Through the medium of the Urim and Thummim I translated the record by the gift and power of God. In case, you are interested. L_n_j1@hotmail.com

Hi Neil, thanks for watching. Over the years, far more research and understanding has been gained about the translation process, the Urim and Thummim and the seers stones Joseph Smith had in his possession. The church has written an official essay discussing seer stones: www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/history/topics/seer-stones?lang=eng and the translation of the Book of Mormon: www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/manual/gospel-topics/book-of-mormon-translation?lang=eng. The church produced a video about the seers stones: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p2LIpHxumMd2qsU. And several church historians published a book that discussed these topics further. deseretbook.com/p/darkness-unto-light-michael-hubbard-mackay-95144?variant_id=400-hardcover. We hope these additional resources are helpful to you.

@@shareejeffs1431 So you do not get it. that is my point, people are buying into the seer stone story that is false, made up just to draw people away from the church. Because Joseph had the Urim and Thummim, that made him a seer, there is no such thing as a "seer stone" totally made up.
@neil898014 жыл бұрын
@@taylorhalverson3052 Hello Taylor thanks for the reply, it is driving me crazy. Your statement "Far more research has been done" my eye..They bought into the lie, and are trying to justify it. I am familiar with anti-mormon literature and found the lies they perpetuate, It is incredible what they have done over the years. If you can show me where Joseph talked about a seer stone I will believe. (You can find a story where a bother claim to have a seer stone and Joseph commanded him to trough it away as such things are of the devil).But I cannot believe research where they are trying to justify the lie because they discovered someone said they said. My petition to you is to get you on board that it is a false story. Picture - 3 dogs and a banana, what is not correct in the picture. Now picture an instrument that "God made" to translate the book, and a seer stone story that an anti-Mormon produced. . What does not fit in the picture? Do you know the seer stone in the church archive was donate by 2 ladies (around 1885) and someone labeled it "Joseph Seer Stone" Now that is it in the churches archive and those involved are dead, who can dispute it. and that is the tip of the iceberg. so to speak. Here is one for you that is similar, How many Plural wives did Joseph Smith have? The answer is 0 (ZERO) Joseph did not have a second wife. That my friend is how bad anti-Mormon people have create false hood in our church history. Dog and banana picture.

@@neil89801 I would recommend you carefully read all the sources I just shared with you. I do worry that you are claiming that the apostles, other general authorities, and many devoted, careful, and grounded members of the church who have seriously studied this topic have all bought into a lie and are all lying. That is quite the claim to make. Again, I'd encourage you to start with the resources we've suggested and remember that the Lord's prophets have carefully reviewed and approved the essays. Please note specifically that the Lord's prophets included this language at the end of this essay "The Church acknowledges the contribution of scholars to the historical content presented in this article; their work is used with permission." www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/manual/gospel-topics-essays/book-of-mormon-translation?lang=eng&_r=1. If you are serious, consider a few other resources from the church and church historians. www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/manual/gospel-topics-essays/book-of-mormon-translation?lang=eng; deseretbook.com/p/darkness-unto-light-michael-hubbard-mackay-95144?variant_id=400-hardcover
