Wow, what a fantastic presentation. I know I say this all the time, but that's ok, I will say it again; I really enjoyed this lesson. I didnt know much about King Hezekiah until I watched this. I have to say a big thank you to Bro Halverson and Bro Griffin for really painting the scene for us, and for providing us with amazing insights. There are things i picked up in this presentation that I didnt pick up in the readings. Thank you for being so thorough. I really feel the urgency of the whole situation, and for what King Hezekiah was carrying at the time. Although our challenges and times are different, I can relate to some things. I feel I have a good relationship with the Lord, I know it's a good relationship because I hear him everyday. Yet despite the skills and knowledge he has blessed me with, I still run to him for help. I can understand and empathize with King Hezekiah for choosing to get nearer to the Lord by going to the temple at a crucial time. I think this is a good reminder and lesson for all of us. There were so many beautiful insights that stopped me in my tracks to have a little cry. I really love how the Lord remembers his promises and revisits them. You are both right, we may forget past promises, but the Lord doesn't forget. I too have to remember that the Lord has a long memory. Even with my trials today, I don't see how a solution is going to present itself, however I do know that despite my logic, I know the Lord keeps his word, and I know he knows what he's doing. This is what I hold onto in my times of uncertainty. These stories really do help us in our trials today, they are hope and they are comfort to the soul. God bless CFM ♥️.

To me, this was a tour de force. My head is spinning. I so appreciate the connection of the "end" of the historical record in 2 Kings with the beginning of the historical record in the Book of Mormon. God is the same yesterday and today. From the "scattering" to the "gathering".

Refreshed again by your "donated time" as you explain these sacred words in the scriptures. The Come Follow Me instructors are as a megaphone high in the heavens singing songs of glory that Our Lord and Savior is alive and through those that teach, that all ,may hear, and know, that His Light is not hidden under a bushel , nor silenced. I pray in gratitude night and morning for you two and all His Son's and Daughter's that with joyful hearts, sing their songs of redeeming love unto Him, as they share time to spread "truth and light" (Taylor's words,) My mind is filled by these lessons throughout the day.

Thank you so much for all the time and effort the two of you put into these lessons. You are the reason I am able to study the Old Testament. It is tough for me to read and comprehend the Old Testament, particularly now in my life. I have been suffering from an anxiety disorder since getting Covid last January. It is very hard at times to read or listen to anything about killing, death, and anything negative. Your lesson is the only way I can sometimes study during the week. Thank you so much. Please don't ever quit. I know so many people that depend on your lesson to help them understand the scriptures. My new little granddaughter-in-law is from the Ukraine, and I shared your channel with her. She loves you so much too.

I was reading 3 Nephi 10 today. The chapter after all the destruction, and the survivors finally hear the voice of Jesus. He told them 7 times that they were of the house of Israel, a remnant of the seed of Joseph. He spoke of the ‘covenant to your fathers.’ ( erases 4-7) Mormon then adds in his thoughts that they should have known this. The prophets have told them. Even Lehi brought the plates of brass out of Jerusalem with him. Those who survived the destruction are the more righteous part of the people. All this reminded me of this weeks Come Follow Me lesson in 2 Kings, and how important his people (the house of Israel) are to the Lord, and how important it is to put forth the effort to keep our part of the covenant, and always remember him. ♥️♥️♥️

I’m concerned that a narrative continues; here and elsewhere that “more is bad”. You’ve continued to reference this connectedness repeatedly. More is not bad. When we strive to do good, repent daily and seek inspiration, sometimes more comes… more of everything including the blessing associated with physical blessings. Just a thought. Dave

Years ago I read a thick historical novel called The Pride of Carthage, about Hannibal. It has several narrators. One of those is an army officer - Hannibal's, I think. This officer encountered a twelve -year-old girl. Everyone she knew was dead in battle. This officer considered her prospects - not good. He could take her as a slave, which would make him responsible for her welfare. He could leave to, probably, starve. So he did something else - severed her head from her shoulders, quick and merciful.

If I'm not mistaken wasn't the letter Hezekiah takes into the Temple the one he received from the messengers of Sennacherib king of Assyria? After all he asks the Lord to hear and see Sennacherib's threats. Maybe I'm mistaken. Any thoughts?
@richardbhungane18422 жыл бұрын
great work brethren i always take notes from you before my Sunday school lesson. I think brother Tyler made a mistake when he said king Hezekiah spread a letter in the house of the Lord and that letter was from prophet Isaiah. I understand the letter was from king of Assyria not from Isaiah

I have never thought of this before, but did they use records on metal, like the brass plates, to make rubbed copies of scriptures? Or anything that needed to be communicated?
@taylorhalverson30522 жыл бұрын
in the Biblical world, documents were put onto papyrus or other perishable material. If they wanted something to last longer, they would use clay tablets or they would write on metal.

Tyler, you mentioned that had Lehi stayed in Jeruselem he (and others) would probably been taken into Babylon. If Lehi is in Jeruselem in the 1st year of Zedekiah, wasn't that after the initial conquest of Jeruselem by Nebuchadnezzar and some of the people had already been carried away captive? Were you saying that had they stayed after that initial conquest, they would have been carried away in the final conquest?

I don't think Laman and Lemuel were illiterate. Nephi testifies that his father taught him all his learnings. Most likely they were also learned. BUT they do not care about the scriptures. Serious question: what tribe was the Assyria from?
@taylorhalverson30522 жыл бұрын
They weren't from any of the tribes of Israel. Good starting point on Assyria (and the Neo-Assyrians who later and conquered the 10 Northern Tribes), start here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assyria
@scottfraley41622 жыл бұрын
@@taylorhalverson3052 So if an Assyrian or anyone else gets converted who is not of the 12 tribes of Israel…… Do they just get adopted into one of the tribes? Depending on their patriarchal blessing?
@taylorhalverson30522 жыл бұрын
@@scottfraley4162 Yes, they are adopted in. But at this point, there are no more ancient assyrians alive from 2700 years ago and their descendants have intermingled and intermarried. In fact, the Samaritans are descendants of Israelites and Assyrians marrying each other around 2,700 years ago. Jews around the time of Jesus didn't like the Samaritans because the Jews thought they were mongrels and not purebred.
@khaledahmed13132 жыл бұрын
And they say, "The Most Merciful has taken [for Himself] a son." 89 You have done an atrocious thing. 90 The heavens almost rupture therefrom and the earth splits open and the mountains collapse in devastation 91 That they attribute to the Most Merciful a son. 92 And it is not appropriate for the Most Merciful that He should take a son. 93 There is no one in the heavens and earth but that he comes to the Most Merciful as a servant. 94 He has enumerated them and counted them a [full] counting. 95 And all of them are coming to Him on the Day of Resurrection alone.
@machellelowry94042 жыл бұрын
So I have wondered before why Samaritans were hated. If I understand right, it is because they weren't pure to just one tribe? They intermingled?
@taylorhalverson30522 жыл бұрын
Yes, you are right. For the Jews during the time of Jesus, they saw themselves as of the pure blood whereas they saw the Samaritans as the mongrel descendants of left over 10 tribes intermingled with Assyrians.
