King and the Dragonflies and Ghost are so good!! I really want to pick up both of the short story collections you mentioned. I think my favorite new Black author I've read recently is Mimi Grace, who writes contemporary romance. I read Make a Scene a few months ago and really want to read all her romances now.

I love what a broad readership you have recommendations for! Truly there’s something for everyone on this list (and a whole lot of something’s for me-my TBR cannot help but grow after one of your videos). Strongly seconding Such a Fun Age. It’s SO SO good. Not always a poetry person but Akwaeke Emezi if all people may be able to convince me, especially knowing the collection also has a religious bent, which I tend to enjoy. Only For the Holidays sounds magical, not only because the story sounds so sweet and lovely, but because I’d bet that when it’s warm outside, it could make you feel all snowy and cozy and christmassy, whereas during the winter season, I bet it warms you up like your heart is holding a seed of summer. Definitely added to my TBR ♥️ Fantastic recommendations as always, Olivia Savannah!!

Love that your TBR has grown as well. Akwaeke Emezi does the poetry so well and I absolutely recommend content warning everything. If you're unsure of poetry, I wonder what that might be like as an audiobook. Your description of only for the holidays was worded beautifully -- the author in you was showing 🤎

I'm more of a fantasy and sci-fi reader. I have some of N.K. Jemisin's books and one from Tomi Adeyemi, but I haven't gotten around to reading them yet. There doesn't seem to be as many writing in the Fantasy/sci-fi genre, either that or Google just doesn't know where to find the lists, or a list hasn't been made.... I can find a some books, but not many authors.
@OliviasCatastrophe6 ай бұрын
Afrofuturism is a major genre, all sci-fi and fantasy, and there are so many great authors aside from N.K. Jemisin and Tomi Adeyemi! (Although they are both fantastic). Have you read any Octavia E. Butler, Tochi Onyebuchi, Nalo Hopkinson or Nnedi Okorafor? I also have a video where I haul in some afrofuturism books and another where I talk about afrofuturism generally in terms of analysis as well, in case they could interest you! kzbin.info/www/bejne/nITXfpKIls5pp6M kzbin.info/www/bejne/laakfnl6r8toercsi=Az2_cA24_waGDm70
