I'm so glad you liked The Secret Garden, because it is my all time favorite book. (I've read it at least 18 times from when I was a child until now at 25 & even got to teach it to a literature class of 6th grade girls.) As for the problematic attitudes towards Indian people and servants, I've always seen it as part of what shows that Mary is not a "good person" at the beginning of the story. Also, the reason she was described as "yellow" was because she spent all of her time inside and on the sickly side. But I really, wholeheartedly love the character growth in this book. This book is just...fundamental to who I am as a person now, and I'm trying to remind myself that I do NOT need to own ALL the copies.

I needed something good to watch, and I couldn't find a movie, this will work just perfectly! And second, I cannot believe how much you resemble your son in your 1st or 2nd grade photo of you!! I mean, y'all already resemble each other so much, but even more so as a youngster yourself! Love it! Alright, continuing on hahah! You are inspiring me to read all of the books I haven't read since I was a child myself! I'm 25 almost 26, so not much more younger than you, and I read a lot of these books, as well as many others you haven't mentioned at all. While watching this video, I not only located these books on my bookshelves, but I looked each of them up on goodreads and such, with hopes of rereading at some point. This is a very interesting idea, and I am eager to try it! There are so many books I used to read that I haven't touched or even thought about since my childhood. I wonder if I would even still enjoy them? They bring back so many special memories for me. Who knows?

I'm loving this series! And this video was just very wholesome. It's so interesting what we remember from our childhood. For years I had this memory of the Secret Garden movie that I watched as a kid. I specifically remembered ONE scene from like the end of the movie. When Mary as an adult sits on a bench and then wind blows away some leaves and she finds the key to the secret garden beath the bench. But since I've watched the movie for the first time, I rewatched it whenever it aired on TV and this scene was never there. First I thought that they just cut it out at the end and I was waiting to the the whole movie to air for the longest time. But it never happened. Then I started to doubt my memory which was a very frustrating experience. Last year I was doing some research on the actors from the movie and discovered... THAT THERE ARE ACTUALLY 2 DIFFERENT SECRET GARDEN MOVIES FROM ABOUT THE SAME TIME?! And apparently one of them wasn't as successful and is only available as DVD from the US. So I ordered it and watched it and it had the scene I remembered in it. Just exactly as I remembered it. I was so happy that I finally solve the mystery. :D But I've never read the book and after your video I really want to!
