Some excellent books! I totally agree about what you said about how a book can't just rest on its plot twist. It has to still be good even if you already know it. Some people recommend me books and are like "the first 500 pages are kinda slow and boring but the plot twist is SO worth it" and I'm like 😐

I recently read the Six of Crows duology and now it’s one of my favorite books! I agree on the hate towards Matthias like he has to rewire his whole brain and we love ✨CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT✨

I also read Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom in August, I really loved the characters and storyline but agree things started to get confusing at times in the second book. Inej is my favourite character and I loved how much of a badass she was in the last chapter of Crooked Kingdom :) I’ve been contemplating whether I should read Normal People because I’ve already watched the TV series but you’ve convinced me to finally read it!

you have great taste in books just saying. Everyone I know wishes night film's plot was about about something different than it actually is lol. *spoilers below* I reeeeeally wanted the reveal to be that Cordova came back from retirement and was actually making the journalist the main character of his movie lol

Hey, sorry to hear you’re going through a difficult experience like that. I wish you all the best. ❤️ I also have an occult-based book rec for you! The Shadows by Alex North revolves around solving a creepy, unsolved murder of a child for the sake of occult goals. I won’t go too much into it because it’s more shocking and thrilling if you go in blind. But if you like unsolved mysteries, children being creepy and messed up, you’ll probably love it.

King of Scars was overall MEH but still worth the read I think! I loved Nina's chapters there and we get to see her move through her grief and power shift. Also her character arc is stronger in KOS than in the SOC duology.

okay that definitely makes me more interested in it!
