I loved The Last Tale and I think Roshani Chokshi is such an incredibly unique writer. Her work is just so beautiful and indescribable. I actually read from her the first time because of you mentioning her YA series quite a while back, so it feels kind of special to hear you talking about your love for this book since it's a favorite for me, as well!

i listened to the last tale of the flower bride because of you (the narrators were so good) and it was so stunning, one of my favorite endings i've read in a long time and it reminded me so so much of my own youth and obsession with the unreal and girlhood. i don't think i'll stop thinking about it for a while, thank you for being the recommendation that got me to pick it up!

Girl I’m so happy you uploaded a video and I’m gonna get your journal for movies and tv shows ❤ I’m so excited to read As Long As The Lemon Trees Grows . The best book I’ve read this year definitely would have to I’m Glad My Died by Jennette McCurdy and a book that made me tear up was The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks . The book that was disappointing for me was This Is How You Lose Time War . As far as books that I’m looking forward to getting at the second half of the year are Book Lovers by Emily Henry, As Long As The Lemon Tree Grows, and whatever else comes my way

I agree with you about the last tale of the flower bride. I myself have not read it yet, but I was surprised by how quickly people stopped talking about this book. I mean that it becoming more commonplace now, for books to stop getting hype when they're actually out except for a select few, but I was really anticipating this one. I want to love this author's work, but the gilded wolves really didn't work for me but I adore her writing style and this book, at least from the premise, feels like it would really work. I am expecting to love this one, and I was shocked to not see it in bookstores near me. I am though getting it as a birthday present.

My two best reads so far this year were The Oleander Sword by Tasha Suri and Evil Roots: Killer Tales of the Botanical Gothic edited by Daisy Butcher. The Oleander Sword is also the best and one of the few sequels I read this year. Hell Bent by Leigh Bardugo is new release that I have not read yet but want to. An anticipated release for the second half of the year is something I had to google because I blanked on this question but I decided to go with House of Roots and Ruin because I enjoy gothic reads and I liked House of Salt and Sorrows enough. This I believe more of a companion novel to the first. My biggest disappointment is The Expert System's Brother which I expected to become a new favourite. It did not. My biggest surprise was Ariadne. I thought that this was a poor purchase and an example of me actually buying something because of the hype (and the type of book it is of course) but I ended up loving it. I don't think I have a new favourite author, partly because I don't have favourite authors full stop. I am tempted the Weird British Tales Series simply because of how much I loved Evil Roots and how I want to read the others in this series, but I also only read one so far. I have ordered in two more and we'll see how it goes. I don't get fictional crushes and I cannot think of any. As for favourite fictional character I believe I will have to go with Ren from The Keeper of Night, even though I am not continuing on with the sequel. I had to go down my reads of the year to work out which one to say, and this is the only one that jumped out to me on that list that is new to me and a character that I loved. I don't think I have cried this year in relation to a book and I haven't come close either, but I did find Lost in the Moment and Found by Seanan McGuire chilling. I don't read happy books so I guess I will say A Natural History of Dragons by Marie Brennan because the main characters passion for dragons was simply nice and charming in a sense. I brought the hardback edition of Plain Bad Heroines by Emily M. Danforth and that is a beautiful edition. I love this book so much and I originally had the paperback but I regretted not getting it in the hardback and now I have both (the illustrations look better on the paper they chose for the paperback though). There are quite a few books I want to get to by the end year, some of them being nonfiction in general because that was a goal of mine, but I do want to read All's Well by Mona Awad because that was an anticipated read and a suspected new favourite and I still have not sat down to read it.

Great to see another video from you, Hannah😊I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts on Yellowface; it's still on my TBR for this year as well and I hope to get to it soon. Speaking of R.F. Kuang, I 100% also need to read The Poppy War before the end of the year. I'm really curious now about Divine Rivals, too, since literally all of the booktubers I follow have been reading and loving it. My favorites this year so far have been Daisy Jones and The Six(listened to it on audio and loved it) and the entire Green Bone Saga by Fonda Lee. Hope you are doing well and had a good time at the Taylor Swift show : )

You should definitely read Ishmael by Daniel Quinn! I've just finished it and it is honestly life changing. Although no explanation of mine will do it justice, the book is essentially about a guy (the 'protagonist') who is looking for a spiritual teacher who can enlighten him and he finds an ad in a newspaper about a teacher who is looking for a pupil, very coincidentally... or is it??? This 'teacher' though is unlike any that you would have probably ever read about in any book, and teaches the 'protagonist' about the world through an animal's perception and provides insight on so many important themes of harmony, balance and the way of life, most specifically how the human condition and our perception of life on earth is, at its core, so so so distorted and warped. One of the most profound and deeply life altering perspective that it has ingrained in me is through its take on the original story of Adam and Eve, the garden of Eden, Cain and Abel and how the author illuminates the slightly radical yet impossibly unmistakable truth within these stories that we are all too familiar with, and yet completely misunderstand. At this point, it has become my bible. My whole thinking has shifted and honestly just thinking about the book makes me wanna cry because it's just so beautiful
