If you had to reread a book before Kingdom of Ash I would definitely suggest Empire of Storms. While it is important to remember what happened in Tower of Dawn, the rest of the characters' stories took place is EOS, and KOA continues almost right where EOS ends.

Bridge of Clay I found simply mesmerizing!! The first half is a bit confusing & takes a lot of dedication to push through, BUT it really does pay off in the end! The amount of detail that goes into telling the story I found SO beautiful and it was easily my favorite book I've read this year and possibly an all time favorite of mine. There was a lot of pressure to follow The Book Thief (which is one of my favorites as well!!), but I think Bridge of Clay is a completely different story in the best way possible. I'm sad that so many people didn't feel the same way. I wish more people gave it a chance.

Most people probably don't care but the audiobook for children of blood of bones annoys me so much. The language the author uses in that book is Yoruba, an actual real language in Nigeria. I am Yoruba, I understand the language and know it. For some reason, which I think is stupid and I don't think is excusable, they don't have a narrator that can speak Yoruba, or at least someone to read those parts. If it was Spanish or french or dutch they would have gotten someone who can speak those languages to narrate it. It's just kind of disrespectful to the language, it's like they're treating it like it isn't spoken by real people. And you don't have the excuse that it's difficult to find someone to do it, there are so many women who speak the language, they could've given someone new that chance. Instead it's mostly just gibberish in the audiobook.

Catwoman: Soulstealer has been a bit of a mixed bag for me. I really like how she's chosen to tackle some things and I like how she's approaching Selina's character, but some of the origin stuff -- especially for the side characters -- just doesn't jive with theBatman mythology that's already established. Like, not even a reinterpretation of that mythology, it weakens those characters backstories. Still, I'm liking it, so I have hope that I'll really enjoy it. Happy early birthday! And good luck with NaNoWriMo! I'm WriMoing this year too and it's going to be interesting.

I read “an absolutely remarkable thing” for the B&N book club. We have it listed as science fiction which I strongly disagree with. It reads like a YA book. In my opinion he attempts to make some really great points about today’s world but never quite makes those points. I’m hopeful for the sequel.

My thoughts of Children of Blood and Bone are very different than almost everyone else. I wasn't a huge fan. While I loved the diversity, every other aspect was so stereotypical YA. There were so many used tropes, and I found the majority of it to be pretty boring. I thought the main characters made some really stupid choices, and I hated the main couple. If it had been an all white cast I would've given the book two stars.

RIGHT!!! I loved the diversity and I loved the setting and I loved the whole concept, but the tropes were so much. Maybe I've just read a whole lot of YA, but I couldn't get past that romance.
