Brother I have no idea why but every time you say “You are loved, you matter” I tear up a bit. I didn’t know how much I needed to hear this man.

I just broke down in tears. I love you. You're a good person.

I would also recommend 'How to read a Book (1972 edition)'. It's not a philosophical book, nor self-help. Highly practically teaches reading as an art form and reading for most efficiency etc.

1000% with you on The Power of Now. I’ve read and listened to it countless times by now. I was initially surprised as I was watching that it wasn’t in your list as I could sense the Eckhart influences in your general philosophy but then you threw it in as a bonus, of course! Haven’t read the others but now will definitely check them out. Thanks for laying these out brother, means a lot to me!

amazing list, I'd recommend "Can't hurt me" by David Goggings

An easy "hack", if you will - reading while walking. This can be a physical book, Kindle or even your cell phone. I used to be very distracted while reading at home. It has quadrupled my book consumption, while allowing me to enjoy the outdoors and I haven't looked back.
@TheConsciousMan1439 ай бұрын
Impressive you can do that. I'd probably accidentally walk off a cliff or into traffic.

the first book was so good that the author's son debuted his father and wrote the book of 7 Habits of highly effective teens that one is like a starter book and at the start it seems like a normal kiddie kinda book but it goes deep into psychology of teens and how to handle trauma and situations teen usually find urself in, so it's a def reccomended book for the teen man who is working hard for his family QUESTION!! you said that audiobooks are not good in ur opinion, what about e-books? books that i read in my laptop or phone? What are ur thoughts on that...
@TheConsciousMan1439 ай бұрын
Thanks for the recommendation, glad there's a book for teens like that. An e-book is certainly more effective than an audiobook... same idea. Just make sure you're sitting with and reading the actual words of the denser books I mentioned. I also like physical books because I enjoy being away from a screen for a time.

You have to realise there are the books of the minute, books of the hour or day, and then there are the books for life. That last category is slim. It's great to share books because you may find that text that stays with you. I think kindles and summaries are no match for the actual if reading. Even an audiobook is different.

Well said. I agree.

Hey bro, would you say that these all the vids u make apply to teenagers?
@slimmjimmkelly9 ай бұрын
hey bro, i know im not the creator but as a man in his mid 20’s, absolutely take the inspiration and messages from these videos even as a teenager and apply it towards building yourself a better life! the sooner you start the better off you’ll be by the time your in your adulthood! i wish i would’ve started this journey when i was a teenager! good luck!
@TheConsciousMan1439 ай бұрын
Certainly most of them are principles of self improvement and self-awareness.

I have an ever growing list of books, but I continue to procrastinate. When I do actually open one up, I feel I can't focus at all. I find myself rereading sentences and paragraphs just to grasp them. I can read and comprehend just fine, but my focus is seriously lacking. Any suggestions, guys? Thank you.
@SIGE_MUSIC9 ай бұрын
don't force yourself, I had the same when I couldn't garner any focus any longer for my studies. I think it's your brain telling you to do something else. find out what that is

The dopamine centers in your brain could fried... try taking a break for a whole week from things like social media, video games, and anything that is hyper stimulating. A lot of younger folks brains are constantly looking or stimulation and are addicted to it. Also learning to meditate. Start with the bonus book recommendation of listening to "power of now" (the only audio book i recommend in the vid)... after you finish that, explore meditation, and detoxing from social media and other mindless entertainment for a time. These kinds of practices repair most peoples focus if you apply them. Hope that helps.
