Ashley Holder I had the same issue with rainbow shelves, but I tried it last year when I got a new bookshelf and I found its not that bad! It helps make my bookshelves into more of a decoration for my room. There is still a part of me that wishes my series were together, though, so i get that it isn’t for everyone!

I have 12 mounted wall shelves, 2 for display, 2 for DVD/CD, and the rest for "real life", Travel, Knitting, series, other, Star Trek/Dr. Who, Manga, and coins. I also have 3 small shelf's built into the stairs of my loft bed with 3 box sets on one and the other two have knitting projects. I organize my books by genre too but I also do it by themes/atmosphere/how it makes you feel. For example I might have a YA fantasy section and within that I'll have YA fantasy with heavy dragon emphasis and YA fantasy that makes you feel warm and cozy. It's basically a "if you liked this, you might also like that" kind of setup.

I currently store my books on the top part of a hutch. You know that weird hybrid furniture that's part dresser part desk part shelves. Anyways it's not a ton of space, but I have one small shelf with favorite children's books, the main center shelf has my favorite books of all time organized by color since they're all standalones, and then 2 other small shelves of books I haven't read yet one of hardcovers the other paperbacks in no particular order. Then my series books are on a shelf in my closet because I have no more room! When I move again I think I am going to invest in a bookshelf maybe to have in the living room or an office instead of my bedroom to store all of my books- likely by genre and author. I also aspire to have a Harry Potter shelf, but for now my hutch is sporadically HP decorated even though those books are in the closet.

The Bone Houses is one of my all time favorite books. The romance is there but isn't the main part of the story. It's definitely very plot driven and it is so original in the folklore that the story is based upon. I 100% recommend because it is beautifully written and executed so perfectly.
