What I also find funny is that there isn't a book that we ALL agreed was good. 😂 Other than perhaps, The Far Field and All The Light...?

Good to see you guys talking about books books and books ... Thank you so much for these recommendations and letting us know different ways to look at a book and how to find new books... Thanks a ton

Hey Sharin, Didnt you recommend 'Midnight Library' in your last video, but now you ar saying it doesnt deserve any award and its not that good... I am confused by this contradiction.. Should I go for it or not?
@sharinbhatti19203 жыл бұрын
Valid point. Basically I read it and it was good but it wasn’t award winning you know what I mean. It’s an alright book, better than most philosophical fiction reads. Like if you pick this up over alchemist, great choice. But as a fiction it’s not the best book I’d read that would make for award winning. In that sense the The Death Of Vivek Oji by Akwaeke Emezi and My Dark Vanessa by Kate Elizabeth Russell nominated in the same category were far more superior reads in terms of themes, accessibility, ease of reading and contemplative. Not saying Matt Haig isn’t worthy, but I feel there were better nominees in the category . GoodReads Best Fiction 2020 nominee list

The Las Vegas part of The Goldfinch is one of the best I have ever read. But The God of Small Things is also an incredible book.

Come on yaar Anuya by this logic Chetan Bhagat and his ilk will win literary prizes. There has to be a filter, though I agree that Booker often features obscure or rather strange books.
