4:10 This is mostly from Indie pubbed works. I’ve never seen a big 5 ARC ever have reviewing ‘conditions’ that they want met. I’ve been removed from ARC teams for not following the ‘rules’, multiple times.

Yeah I guess that’s my main experience with ARCs. Thanks for sharing!

I think the ARC issue is something that rarely happened but is getting worse. I feel like with more and more indie authors joining the community who don't know the rules (and I know we're all about throwing away the rules of the mainstream industry) they will make requests like that. There were two in a fb group recently who pulled that. One even had a pre-scripted recommendation of what we could say. 😆

My confusion is the fact that they probably did preorder the correft amount that they wanted because the edition that everyone's talking about is a limited edition copy. There were never gonna be enough. Now the target edition has no excuse because thats not limited edition

🤷🏼♀️ wowwww, yeah why even let people preorder if they are only making a limited number?

In terms of the ARCs, I agree with the original video and have seen that in my own experiences (I review romance as well). It's like the smaller the author is, the more selective they are about who can review and also the more requirements there are in terms of where or when the reviews are shared and it's required to do so or you're removed from the ARC list for the future.

Oh interesting!! I guess because they (for lack of a better phrase) have more to lose by sending out copies and never seeing a return. A huge publisher won’t feel any financial strain if a reviewer doesn’t write a review, but an indie author might. Thanks for sharing your insight!

@ also, I pre-ordered Onyx Storm from my local indie store because I got burned by Amazon on the 2nd book in the series!

About preorders, I expérience this all the time with historical romances. They never ship to arrive in time and the delivery date gets pushed to one or two months later. If I cancel it and wait for release date, its still the same. It looks liké they have no stock, which make no sense to me. Anyway 🙄

What is even the point of preorders then?!?!
