New York has their own style of house music, but absolutely no one in the world can make it as funky as Chicago can. frankie knuckles brought it to town, farley Keith innovated it, and Ron Hardy freaked it like no other!!!!!
@juanalvarez73856 жыл бұрын
John Walker, House music started in NYC during 1968-1969. The Cheetah where Frankie Crocker from WBLS started mixing white people music with soul music Ex: I like what I like, by Everyday People, Rain2000, and Sultan, by Titanics, Aretha Franklin: Rock Steady, James Brown: Give it Up, Turn it loose, Temptations: Papa was a rolling stone, The Tramps, and then the Philadelphia sounds. Originally, house music started people having parties in their own homes. Every Saturday someone had a party in their basements...
@juanalvarez73856 жыл бұрын
I respect your point...Chicago came with a harder bass and more funky sound to make your body move...I love iT!!!

House music has its origins in New York this it true. However House music is from Chicago. In the same way that Blues has it's origins in Negro Spirituals, House has it Roots in Disco. Disco became House in Chicago when Frankie Knuckles was imported from New York to Spin at the Warehouse. Hence the word "House" Music. Frankie Knuckles was the protégé of Larry Levan. His style was identical but New York was not big enough for the both of them. Then came Techno which is the bastard child of House and it is out of Detroit.
@williampayton95156 жыл бұрын
@@Detroitblue Kevin Saunderson and the entire Techno crew would travel to Chicago with the TR-808 music machines and teach Ron Hardy and Frankie Knuckles how to create their own beats to underlay their mixes of disco, soul and pop. Chicago went the way of House while Detroit wen the way of Techno. Both relied heavily on sampling. At the same time, we were all playing in the basketball summer leagues. Hoops by day, and crushing the Warehouse at night and early weekends. By the time the 909s came out, Knuckles was on the top of House and Cybotron was killing em in Detroit. Then came Jeff Mills (The Wizard) and the entire world was his to command. Back in 79-82 Knuckles and them knew nothing of synthesizers and beat machines. When they came to Detroit in the Summer of 81 they heard Planet Rock on the radio. The next summer Planet Rock hit the vinyl and was released as a .45. Then it quickly went to a 12inch album. We went back to Chi-town with some early cybotron cuts and the warehouse went crazy. Early 84, Saunderson dropped On and On and it was credited as the first house cut. But it wasn't. House started in 1977 I believe. "Popular House" music would have been a better title for Saunderson's jam. It blew up from there. Knuckles was back and forth between Detroit and Chicago just as we were. Them Europe cats would visit Detroit every summer checking out the Techno scene. I remember this plain as day, when they saw Jeff Mills mixing kraftwerk, hip-hop, disco, pop, soul and playing the 909 at the same time, they lost they damn minds................The good ole days.

@@williampayton9515 Great expose' of the evolution of the genre. I didn't know that. I was in Chicago but my people was from Detroit. I loved electronic funk like Cybertron and Scorpio. But a sometimes they would clear the floor in Chicago when I did and Tecnostyle set. It wasn't until I got to Detroit in the mid 80's that I saw they loved all that stuff just like me. THE House VIBE was dying when I left the Chi but it was still in full swing Detroit Thank God . Lol
