Johnny - Here is a piece of your history I don't think many people know about. I played your version of "I'm Crying" for Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley of Kiss and below is what they said. - John Stix (Guitar Recordings) Gene: Stevie Ray Vaughan? Jeff Healey? He’s got really good control Paul: Gary Moore? It sounds like that 60s/70s English blues. G.S.. That was Johnny Gale Gene: My Johnny Gale! You should hear him do “Boom Boom” That will rip your head off. I love Johnny Gale’s playing. I managed him and almost got him a deal. It was a time when music was changing and there was no room for this kind of thing. They were wrong. At the same time that you have a Smashing Pumpkins there should be room for guys that love the blues, like Johnny Gale. He is a great player because of the choice of his notes and vibrato. It’s never speed. Blues is probably the most emotional form of guitar playing. That’s why the great players have never been the fastest players. Clapton said it best when he said it’s not what you put in, it’s what you leave out of it that makes a great solo.
