Agreed. Being middle class, a common discussion point is being afraid our cars break down because it's "obvious" that car ownership is now for the rich. People have given up on kids/home ownership, people are stuck in place because rents skyrocketed, people have credit card debt, people think I'm rich because I have a 401K (even some upper middle class people!) - things seem way worse under the hood. Wall street only cares about % change from prior month but is missing the larger picture. We are all financially tapped out, and can't make more money when companies are actively outsourcing and gutting mid-level jobs even more.

I completely disagree. That's what makes a market. Much like this last election cycle, he absolutely fails to mention the US has $2T in bonds to roll over the next 2 years that will roll at roughly 2x the interest rate currently used. Interest payments going to $1.5-2T of a $5T tax receipt base that will shrink due to tax cuts. Add in American isolationism and the appetite for those rollover bonds goes negative. Yields are going closer to 10 than 5% in this scenario. Inflation will spike. It's all hard assets at this point.

Their costs are less than 1/3 of here. It would take a 200% or 300% tariff to really force some of the jobs back. In addition, we have a terrible tax structure that penalizes companies for making things here. You are aware that if the bond yields go down your bonds appreciate in value massively right? Especially if they have to drop rates to near 0 due to some "emergency" again you can expect at least a doubling in the longest term treasuries and get paid 4-5% while you wait. Then you sell the bonds and move them back into equities during that scare. Then you have a V shaped recovery due to the QE printer go burr... Then you buy crypto at the cycle lows... Then you move BTC into alts... Then you sell the alts and move back into treasuries. I'm basically giving you my playbook. To become a multi millionaire extremely easily in less than 10 years while everyone else complains. BTW right now I'm in crypto. The next move will be into treasuries probably sometime next year.

This guy speaks with far to much conviction to take very seriously. Usually when people who actually know what they are talking about give their base case it acknowledges that things may play out much differently than what they are anticipating. He seems to think that everything is going to play out exactly as it did last time Trump was president just because he is president again. Things are VERY different now than they were then, and this isn't even considering the biggest event of all which is AI, the impacts of which can't really be predicted with any degree of certainty. I disagree. Yields have topped, and will go lower with the economy, as we continue into a deflating recession. Oil, corn, commodities, gold, and the market will all deflate. Jeff Snider points out the deflationary trend. The coming bid in treasuries is correct. But it will be because yields will be falling with everything else. IMO Snider is correct.
@willr1080Ай бұрын
Snider was saying that right before rates exploded up--he said (everyday) we were going negative. He's a one trick pony.
@joefuentes2977Ай бұрын
The yields are just from profit taking out of these massive gains in equities rotating into bonds... Despite what most people think, the economy is actually doing really well. Poor people getting poorer has been the trend for the past 50 years and isn't going anywhere. But the people who know how to invest getting richer also isn't going to change either. Just because the dollar loses it's value or that people are generally worse off doesn't mean that the economy is bad.
@cybermuse6917Ай бұрын
Yields have topped because of fear. Jeff's thesis will be right (yields dropping) so long as the bubble pops which might be true if the demand destruction isn't too bad. The monetary policy will be to push as much money into the economy to keep it afloat without causing too much inflation and federal policy will attempt to get rates down as low as possible. So equally likely that we will see a combination of inflation and yields increasing, demand destruction and unemployment and a relative deflation in certain assets.
@cowymtberАй бұрын

The way the debt to GDP ratio got so high in the first place was the Bribem admin deficit spending as a percent of GDP at unprecedented levels attempting to prop up nominal GDP growth. The only way to shrink the debt to GDP ratio is to limit government deficit spending to less than real GDP growth and create a private sector pro-growth economic environment. That's what happened after WW2. Deficit spending came down substantially and the real economy started to grow when troops came back from thewar to start families.

Commercials can be positioning and speculating in advance of Treasury reversal but they can be wrong... Also, CPI, PPI, Powell and bond market are saying it's not time as Powell continues lower rates to meet political agenda the bond market is doing the exact opposite.... It would not be unreasonable to assume everything that got the debt to this point won't be undone in short order... Trump has the right goal in mind but the last time I checked he doesn't own a magic wand....

Trump is only gonna be around for another 4 years. And he has said he is the King of Debt. And he has also said he isn't gonna be around when the Chickens come home to roost. He's gonna continue max out the plastic to keep his popularity high. And congress will vote for it.

my frustration with many outlets, as this long bull market wears on. It wasn't even that long ago, maybe in 2018, where random solid stocks would be cheap and just not go up for months at a time, even on good earnings. It's obvious many super young people never experienced that, so they think 2024 is remotely normal and not peak bubble activity.

👍🏼 So this is going to continue by printing more debt! Smile more & continue to kick the can down the road you lot miss the point because you can't see further than your nose. We want to get away from the Dollar.

It's shocking how many Americans cannot speak basic English without breaking basic English grammar rules. This interview lacked subject-verb agreement.
