Reshma B kickin' in with Collie Buddz. Bermuda's biggest dancehall star chops it up with the Reggae Girl About Town, reminiscing on his "Baptism by fire" the first time he performed in Jamaica at Club Asylum, where MC Fancy Cat stumped the crowd by playing Collie's tune "Come Around" and then asking club patrons if they could guess what the artist looks like. When the white DJ stepped on stage spitting lyrics, the place went wild. He also shares his thoughts on American roots reggae bands like Slightly Stupid and Rebelution, his thoughts on their difference in style. On a more serious note, Collie recalls his inspiration for the tune "Blind to You" a haters anthem. Subscribe to Boomshots TV for more crucial reggae and dancehall videos.

I feel like sublime was a massive influence to the sound of a lot of those bands. And of course the classic roots reggae artist like Marley, Isaac's, yellow man, Barrington ect

@@deft1abc1 exactly. Maybe it's something about growing up by the ocean & "beach culture" if u will I grew up on the opposite coast in VA Beach & Sublime was the 1st "white boy" music that spoke to my segment of my generation we weren't so easily categorized we listened to punk/hardcore like NOFX, Dead Kennedy's to hatebreed, Pantera, Rage against the machine, to Bob Marley & Steel Pulse, buju Blanton to biggie, 2pac, Wu-tang, bone thugs, Cypress hill, NWA where I'm from we were mostly poor/working class mostly white kids but we didn't f around we were all over the place we looked like white boy skater/surfer kids long hair/dreads, hemp necklaces w glass beads, but Rocawear jeans & Jordans & a lot of us sold drugs, carried guns etc & got down with some real "gangsta shit" for example my dad & "uncles" were bank robbers no joke so we related to a lot of the so-called "gangsta rap" of the time & even tho we were "race aware" as in we knew we were white boys & knew our "turf" was here & the black neighborhood was there, but there wasn't the animosity or resentment you see today but I digress. Point being that sublime was the 1st to encapsulate my life & bring the "white boy" aspect of gangsta shit to the world in a style that was heavily influenced by & paid respect to black culture as opposed to a white rapper trying to act black

Are we really gon ask a white boi bout racism, lets not forget tht reggae apart frm having a nice time dancing came out to bring a statement,a message across bout the black man struggle..white boi know nothn bout that struggle so yeah for him its js getting jolly wth d music..if its good music, its good music who cares can only be said by a white boi who clearly knows nothn bout d blackman struggle an d hardship of even getting his message thru the music across..even if its good music..

Most reggae you talk of is dead now. Dancehall is the popular music now and doesn't relate to original reggae
