I binge-watched this from my bed after back operation four, I believe, on Bravo after channel-surfing for a few minutes. I , without realising it, watched from “Pilot”to last episode . I fell in “adore” (‘Love’ is reserved for people and other living things in my home) with it from opening song to ending credits and everything in between! I could hardly wait for the next season...four years too late! How in the world did this not become a major hit?! No DVDs, no telly ... thank you KZbin. Anyone else out there like me? Well, no. But, you know what I mean..... (In regards to “Boomtown”: One of the most creative, clever, well-written shows about police, DA’s, and criminals and your actions Ever displayed!)

It landed wrong, and the network lost interest. In an era before streaming, before big cable tv prestige shows, hell before even decent file sharing (this was Limewire territory), there wasn't a lot of space for a program to exist without a massive audience to watch every week at the same time. I too was HOOKED by the innovative story structure and the propulsive music. The second season was a flawed retool by the network (but it gave us some great moments, here and there). And as a native of Southern California, it took a different approach to stories about my hometown than I typically see.

@@yorktown99 I have yet to see anything that rival is it in the states and your point about the days before streaming is very well taken. It is too bad that we cannot get the band together again as they all have spread to other projects… But then, it wouldn’t be the same anyway! At least we had two seasons - roughly. I had a couple of favourites that still roll around in my head: when was the story of the meth lab that begins with a smoking boot; and the other was the episode where an unknown beast was patrolling a swimming pool… I don’t want to give away too much in case others read this and have not yet seen it. Thanks for your reply. Cheers and Slainte 🎸👨🏼⚕️🏴🇺🇸👍🏻. God’s blessings 💟 …

Joe Penny is one of our best actor's around he is an old school actor that we need back on tv. There are no good actors out there anymore, we need Joe Penny back.

Joel Stevens' and Danny Reagan are so alike!!! They're both short-tempered and mean when it comes to important cases. No wonder Donnie Wahlberg plays both characters!!

Welcome to the club! I still feel like a dolt for missing it the first time round… Maybe one of the streamers will pick it up briefly like Hulu has done with “Luther“. It has five seasons, so it is a bit different in that regard, but still, as it is a great, gritty look at a flawed but incredible policeman (DCI). Well worth the watch. Let me know if you agree. (I only saw the first season and a half - so far - but as the seasons are only six episodes long, it is fairly easy to catch up.)

It is a shame. Boomtown's first season was downright classic, but at the time it was up against shows like 24. If you like these characters, I would recommend watching Justified. Graham Yost did that show, too, and most of these characters make an appearance at one point or another (Fearless, McNorris, Ray, etc.)
@MissPurpleDurple7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the recommendation! I originally came for Lana Parrilla, the women who played as Teresa and I thought I wasn't going to like it, but I seriously love it. It's something different from the other modern day cop shows I watch. I would love for someone to bring this concept of having different perspectives of one case, and modernize it, since back then they didn't have the technology that we have today.

It's definitely a cool way to tell the story. Justified doesn't use that necessarily, but the conversations and characters are just as memorable and lovable as these.

Glad to see that Dorian Harewood survived his ordeal in "Full Metal Jacket". That was some way to go out, getting systematically shot up by that Vietnamese sniper.

Donnie Wahlberg is a much better actor than his brother (if indeed they are related).

@@remus2419 Lana Parrilla.
@johndrowe52814 жыл бұрын
She is a paramedic! Not a surgeon (unless she had some military training as a ”medic”; she would not be permitted to perform some of the procedures she has on the series in ”real life” -- paramedics are not trained to do some of the surgical procedures she has undertaken in the series legally or ethically.) We had a very skilled paramedic who became a member of my medical school class. She had been part of the ”life flights” prior to med school -- I believe that she became a trauma surgeon! Hard worker....
