Thanks for hiking around Key West to bring us this video . . . Your work is looking so good. I can only imagine how much time you spend setting up some of your shots. Even if you had a crew it would take a lot of time. Thanks again.

Spent a day there in 2004, the last day of my scuba diving vacation to the Keys. Diving at Looe Key was cancelled due to high wave action on the reef so I spent the day at KW. Some excellent art galleries there too. I have now been to the southern- and eastern-most (Quoddy Head, Maine) points in the US. Took old Route 1 from top to bottom! Love the new intro!

Eric, I really enjoyed this video. I was stationed at the Naval Air Station on Boca Chica (a couple of islands back toward Miami) back in the late 50s. When I was there they were still running the ferry to Havana. Key West was a much different place back then. Seeing the beautiful water and palm trees brought back many great memories. Keep making the videos. I am following along and enjoying the trip. Thanks.

there is suppose to be a youtube gathering down there this year for east coast guys. I was invited to come, but turned it down. Not interested in such a big trip this year I don't think. I would consider flying if I knew I had a place to go to and knew what to do down there. We will see. Who knows I might get up one morning when the mood hits me and try again. Life is good like that. ;)

Good video of Key West, hope you are having a great time. The action at Mallory Square is normally around sunset, not sure what time you were there. I have been to Hemingway's house so many times, there was a time when i probably could have given the tour. Have been going to the Keys since 1976, it sure has changed a lot. Good RV spot Knights Key north side of 7 mile bridge, good eating spot sunset grill. Hope you enjoy your vacation. Really like your videos.

Hello Eric, I just got back inside after shoveling snow! Your video warmed me up! Stayed at a Motel in Marathon Key for $52.00. Mallory Dock as Sunset is where the action is---including watching in the Coast Guard chasing small boats entering the area.
@BigFireDave8 жыл бұрын
No, this time of year is when the square is the busiest, but nothing happens till almost sunset. Usually the vendors, entertainers, and artists do not show up until an hour or so before dark. The thing that started the square as being the place to be in Key West is the spectacular sunsets over the Gulf. My FaceBook page has some Key west Pics from close to 30 years ago and that was not the beginning of the sundown vigil. 8-)

Hi Eric, another great video. You are a natural in front of the camera. I spent a lot time in the Couch Republic (the Keys). Please, DO NOT PARK ON THE GRASS in the Keys. With little or no soil and the salt in the air, it is very hard to grow grass. You notice no other vehicle was parked there. The Keys are made up of coral, dig half an inch and it's like concrete. Wish you went to Mallory Square at sunset. That is when the entertainers and the crowd is there. You are there during Peak season that runs from Christmas to mid April. That is why campgrounds are full. In the summer, it's very humid and hot, with the mosquitos in the summer. Thanks again for sharing your journey.

Hit Mallory Square at sunset - that's when the crowds, jugglers, musicians, acrobats, etc. gather. We were just there in early February on a Tuesday night - it was awesome! Also, walk Duval street at night - that's when the party starts! In Key West - you have to eat Conch and Key Lime Pie! Love Key West! Happy travels!

I was stationed @ NAS KW way back when, and still go there somewhat often. We're fortunate to be able to use base facilities near Duval (Truman Annex & Trumbo). You're lucky to have got a good spot to park, altho both the residents and police are used to transients and for the most part welcome them. One note, the Southenrmost point buoy is not the southernmost point, that actually is over on Truman Annex (look at KW on Google Maps), but there is no public access. KW is ideal for bicycles to get around, but be sure and lock them up wherever you go. Looks like you enjoyed it!

It all depends on the time of year and how long ago one was in Key West. I got off a bus at midnight, 99 degrees and 99% humidity and it didn't change much in 24 hours, weeks of it. It was a well armed island in 1963 just after the missile crisis, lots of military and it had a great military history. Fresh refugees from Cuba and a friendly population because it was mostly military and retired military. I don't really care for the changes I have seen on KZbin but nothing stands still. Lots of history there.

Eric only a few things to do there go to the beach go tarpon fishing or get really drunk everyday you are there. The first time drank like a fish and the second time i went fishing and stayed out of places like Sloppy Joe's Crabby Dicks etc and had a better time no hangovers that trip

Wow, so many memories of the Keys and Key West. I was born and raised in Miami and spent many days and nights in the Keys. Only spent one night in a motel, the rest was camping, RV'ing or in a boat. Watching the sun set at Mallory Sq, drinking with Capt Tony at the original Capt Tony's bar (the one Hemingway took the urinal home from), bar hoping along Duval in Old Key West, Halloween nights and all the wild, crazy, wonderful people there. Hope you got a chance to visit Hemingways house while you were there. Love your video's, thanks for bring those memories back to me.
