I have had this product for 2 months now, and the first time a tried the Super X-Fi I though it was weird, because it is so different to any other 7.1 surround effect, but then I started to compare the sound with other settings including the SBX, and I found it to be so unique, that now I cannot use my headset without it, it sounds amazing, because you don't feel the sound in your head, now the 7.1 sound feels like it comes out of your headset like a short distance away, and it is so close to having a 7.1 system in the room. I just love it now, you have to try that again. Excellent product, very recommended. (My headset is a Sennheiser GSP 500)

@@omaribrahim8031 Excellent choice, it is a very good product, it has so many options I'm sure you won't regret, it sounds amazing, you just need to setup your EQ to your preference, and try different settings for sure it won't disappoint.

THANK YOU, you're litterally the only youtuber who explained that you could just plug in the single jack into the headphone port and the mic would work, good job - i was going to end up scrapping the idea of buying this x3/x4 because of not finding that info anywhere, not even the manuals online from soundblaster - thanks!

I am tossed up between the G6 and the X3, price is similar. I really want to be able to mix my chat audio with game audio so it has me leaning towards the X3. How have you liked the G6?

I have the g6, powers my dt990 pros well, super loud but the software isn't great. I just use discrete mode with atmos enabled (have to buy license) which turns everything off.

Since the g6 isn't available here in Canada, I think this would pair well with the ath-g1. And do much better job than the G3

The mic button for audio balance, is it for balancing chat and game audio or sidetone? Sidetone should be a set it and forget it type setting in software but chat/game audio mix can and does need to be be adjusted on the fly.

Just watched your review! Thanks for sharing, I have a question regarding the Mic monitoring feature - Can you still use it if you use other mic source i.e. Mic connected tru the USB? I was wondering if the Sidetone/Mic monitoring feature only works with microphone directly plug in to the X3's mic input. Hope to get your feedback. Thank you!

Doubt it, probably had to be directly connected to the 3.5 in the x3 in the front so no XLR or USB mics

There are no DACs compatible with consoles, they require software to run correctly.

Just to confirm, you're saying that you can use a 4 pole connector into the headphone socket to pass mic audio? I'm looking to run a vmoda boom pro so that will make the front end look a bit nicer if I dont need to add in another adapter to split. Thinking of getting this as it seems to be the simplest thing to drive the SHPs with a boom mic for gaming, and also the 6XX that I use also. I have a Magni 3, but the mic input complicates things, so I might get this as a middle ground compromise (otherwise I would complete that Schit Stack). One last thing - is the ring LED always blue? Or can it be set or turned off. Thanks - keep up the good work

yes in my mic testing with the x3 that is how I ran it (on pc) as for the led yeah it's always blue, no way to change it. does go red when changing mic vol

@@TheTechne Hey just to let you know I got my unit a couple of days ago, and it works great. The sound is good enough for me and drives my Phillips X2s (Movies) and SHP9500s (Gaming) brilliantly. One thing I wanted to ask - do you know if theres a way to limit the volume? When powering my speakers, I can only really use up to 25 in windows volume otherwise its too loud. Would be nice to have control over a larger range of volume. Did you seem to notice that too?

I currently have the SB x-fi with my external Bose companion 3s. Can they hook up to this or can I just continue using my x-fi soundcard with the speakers and just use this X3 with my headphones? I like the looks and versatility of the X3 to add to my desktop. I guess what I'm asking is can both devices be hooked up to the same PC?

yes the 990's are very sharp in the highs. I don't like them for gaming, they remove all the immersion. I would go with the 40's

G6 if you want a more powerful amp and better build quality and a smaller footprint. X3 if you want mic monitoring, chat mix, if you have a surround sound setup with speakers, if u want a little more control with software and want to save $30.

Theres no a SINGLE ONE that reviews this card pluged on real 7.1 speakers setup, only headphones. The main goal of this card is the option to plug in real 7.1 speakers on it.

@@JasonGT95 I have been wanting to review some sennheiser sets. hopefully ion the near future. as for the surround on both devices, you can adjust it on both. but I'm not a fan of either, or any created surround sound.

@@JasonGT95 to my ears SBX surround sound on the G6 sounds much better than SXFI (and slightly better than the GSX 1000). I replaced my GSX 1000 with a G6 because the G6 had a more powerful headphone amp. And now I have replaced my G6 with the X3 because the X3 can balance your game/chat audio, although its headphone amp is slightly weaker than the G6 (but still powerful enough). In all cases I tested the surround sound but always settled on stereo.

@@TheTechne That's how I felt at first but I decided to stick with it. Try using it for a game like Red Dead 2. It is amazing in open world games and in movies. Music is hit or miss with older recordings sounding better. It took a month of using it on and off for my "brain" to get used to it--hard to explain. It has tricked me more than once that my speakers are still on or that someone is walking in the hallway outside my office. Using it for only a few days I hated it but decided to stick with it. Now it is my preferred way to listen to most audio. I never understood the "headphones" being inside your head but I get it now when I turn off the SXFI.
