Love watching all your Boosted videos Vitalie! I'm glad someone out there is pioneering detachable batteries since Boosted won't give them to us. This whole time I've held off on doing this because I had no idea how you tapped into the wires. Thanks for this video!!

can you please explain all of the technical specs of your batteries for someone who is clueless. I definitely don't have the knowhow to build my own batteries and also don't know what specs to look for when buying batteries. As far as voltage.... mAh ratings.... discharge... What do these need to be to not damage my boosted board battery? I am assuming that the voltage is the main spec that could be damaging? Help please

great! I might have to do this modification after my warranty expires. I wonder how difficult it would be to gain access to the actual positive and negative pads instead of soldering directly to the wire itself. Any reason why you didn't use something like an XT90 connector instead of bullets?
@ElectricVehicleSpace8 жыл бұрын
I like the 6mm connectors.

the warranty will not be affected by this mod. One of the guys that bought the cells returned the board to boosted and they fixed the motor mount.
@Quadtheory8 жыл бұрын
+Portable Electric Vehicle No way?? Thank you for the info! :D But it could probably be because there is no way the mod is going to affect the motor mounts. If one of the motors died then they would probably not honor the warranty. Quick question tho. When making the battery pack, do all the negatives face one direction and the positives face one direction or is it like + - + - + - + - + -?

Say I had a board that I wanted to keep in warranty, but still have extra battery power when I'm not near an outlet. Is there anything keeping me from soldering up an adapter going from the battery pack and ending in the board's charger connection?(I'd use the same type battery pack as you, and similar connections). That way once I get to where I need to go, I can plug the undermounted batteries in and charge up while still carrying the board. That way the actual board itself has no modifications in case it breaks under warranty.
@ElectricVehicleSpace8 жыл бұрын
not sure what you mean...the way i added the cells you can charge through the boards charger. Even if you add the additional packs you won't loose the warranty.
@st3althyst0rm8 жыл бұрын
+Portable Electric Vehicle Oh okay, I didn't know this didn't void the warranty. If i'm going to be using 18650 cells, what's the most/least cells I can use in a battery pack? Or does it not matter?

Hi! Where did you buy your packs with balance connectors on the opposite side? Any particular brand? Also, What is it you are attaching the battery packs with? I have never seen that before. Can you detach and reattach batteries to that or is it for one-time use/attachment?

Don't charge it via the boosted board charger because it's not balanced
@ElectricVehicleSpace7 жыл бұрын
I have charged over 2 years now with booted charger and all is good. You just have to check with the cell log 8M to see if any of the cells drifted. I also have other people that I made packs for riding daily for over 2 years and charging with boosted charger with no problems.
@coreybryan36685 жыл бұрын
I agee that ist not a great idea but maybe the power draw is so low in this scenario that the effects of not balancing are greatly diminished

Do the battery packs get hot? Curious if I could run a longer wire up to a backpack rather than strapping the packs on the bottom of the board.
@ElectricVehicleSpace8 жыл бұрын
never get hot but the wires cannot be longer than 7 - 10 inches.
@coopsacoop8 жыл бұрын
Perfect, since I only ever ride my board lying down. I'm kidding, but why can't the wires be longer? Too much resistance (I know little about this type of thing)?
@ElectricVehicleSpace8 жыл бұрын
+coopsacoop not just resistance, variance of currents that will affect the electronics. you can calculate and place capacitors but in long run it will affect the electronics and the battery.

Interesting. Thanks for answering my questions. I enjoy your videos!

How do I charge regular charger?
@ElectricVehicleSpace6 жыл бұрын
I will post a video this weekend on how to do it.
@joop19878 жыл бұрын
So the boosted board BMS verifies each cell is not over or under charged. Your extra packs do not have a BMS (balance plugs are not plugged in anywhere). If you charge your extra batteries through the stock charger you can over charge a cell. Saying the boosted board's BMS takes care of your extra batteries is not true.
@ElectricVehicleSpace8 жыл бұрын
well it is. I checked all cells and they are perfectly balanced.
@ElectricVehicleSpace8 жыл бұрын
+Chris yes, each cell is not connected but the board shuts down at 3.2V and stops charging at 40.5V.
@JRPW8 жыл бұрын
+Chris I think he uses a separate balance charger to charge the extra batteries cause u are right about what U are saying.
@joop19878 жыл бұрын
+J Wightman he clearly states he uses the boosted charger.
@ElectricVehicleSpace8 жыл бұрын
+J Wightman if each cells is the same res. etc. than the current flows equally through the cells. boosted bms shuts down the power when the voltage reaches 40.5V.
