That catch can is going to put boost into your valve cover. You want the line to go pre turbo so that it generates vacuum instead of pressure! Otherwise you could pop a valve seal or something.
@ionutanghel28493 жыл бұрын
Did you not noticed the one way valve? What pressure are you talking about!?
@DadBodGarage3 жыл бұрын
@@ionutanghel2849 the pressure That will be created on both sides of the system even with the check valve. Also, I’m pretty sure that’s a t fitting for boost reference.
@ionutanghel28493 жыл бұрын
@@DadBodGarage he sayed it’s a check valve!
@DadBodGarage3 жыл бұрын
@@ionutanghel2849 ah, either way, it’ll pressurize the crank case in that configuration. So the check valve becomes pretty much useless except at idle.
@ionutanghel28493 жыл бұрын
@@DadBodGarage who would pressurize the crank case? Boost leaking thru the stem seals of the valves or thru the piston ring gaps... but that is normal on a boosted engine... that’s the point of the catch can...

Hey Robbie why don’t you run an intercooler that has the inlet and outlet in the same side? It’ll definitely reduce the amount of piping you’re running now!

Look at the block above/beside the alternator, there's a pcv valve that needs vacuum and usually goes to that port you just put your oil catch can line, it's a crank case vent, very important

Robbie, I always enjoy watching your videos, you’re one of the main creators who pushed me to begin work on my own project. So stoked to see how far you've come and all the cars you have gotten over the past couple years. I'm loving the k-series/EK build and cant wait to see its first drive! Keep up the amazing work you've been doing and remember to Stay Committed. (sorry if the end was cringe lmao im a cringey person)

Looks great Robbie, I got thinking for the intercooler piping.. You would go 90 cupler down to a 45 pipe, have a bit straight to make it down to the correct level then 45 it again and the the rest to make it to the intercooler.. just an idea/thought I had.. You’d be able to dodge the clutch line to by the looks of it in the video and it would look much cleaner. That or if it’s a possibility you could maybe go with a intercooler that’s in/out on the same side that way all your piping will stick to one side and potentially make the entire setup look cleaner!

Robbie I think you really need to run the catch can hose before the turbo, or the catch can will be the same pressure as the intake, and that pressure will be grater then the pressure of the crankcase , unless you have some time of valve on the catchcan/intake hose.

Best way of running a catch can would be to get a vented can and run both lines off the valve cover, that will minimize your crank case pressure. The can your using is just going to catch the blow by oil but not allow any pressure to escape.

I am no expert, but that catch can should work at idle and no boost, when you've got vacuum in the intake, but when you start to make boost that check valve will actuate and you'll get no vacuum. You do need a vacuum source pre turbo I believe. Whether you change that vacuum source to preturbo or just run a second catch can that has preturbo vacuum source doesn't matter.
