Start from the beginning and do it right. Who knows what else they’ve done and hooked up incorrectly. What you see is always the tip of the iceberg. Hats off to you for figuring it out. You’re the guy to fix it and get it running properly.

Would have to use a challenger harness since it’s a 2 door. If you use a Charger harness you’re gonna have a big chunk of wire just loose that were meant for the rear doors, impact sensors, etc.
@l.boogie2764
@l.boogie2764 Жыл бұрын
@@SRT_DRE not necessarily cause the 68 is Actually same wheel base as the new day chargers, seen that when ppl do chassis swap the old body wraps the new chassis with ease. Keep in mind they were bigger cars back then. The 2doors were bigger they the now day 4doors.
@SRT_DRE
@SRT_DRE Жыл бұрын
@@l.boogie2764 bro, the Charger and the Challenger are the same length. It wouldn’t make sense to use a Charger harness because the 2015+ Charger harness is a 4 door harness. It makes sense to use the Challenger harness. You’re talking to someone that knows from experience bro. All parts from a Charger and Challenger are interchangeable. I’m just saying if you’re Charger is a 2 door like the 68, then use a Challenger harness so you won’t have loose wires behind the interior panels. That’s tacky.
@l.boogie2764
@l.boogie2764 Жыл бұрын
@@SRT_DRE me too, I have a 20 demon, 69 charger , 70 Cuda in my garage now had 16 charger and wife daily a hell cat swapped 300s . So I'm familiar with the chassis. I feel where you coming from and not discrediting that. I was just speaking from what i seen a friend do on his resto mod, that's what he did and ain't have no loose wire harness no where. Aye maybe the way he routed things doing wire tucks and stuff is why he went with the longer harness. Just saying doc, but yea right either or would work not here to debate. But am currently using challenger harness on my 68 dart project.

I caught a quick clip of this project & had to go back to this episode to see how it all began. My first thought watching this is it's crazy to have spent sooo much cash on the vehicle, the Hellcat swap, all the interior, a mini tub, roll cage, etc & have so much messed up on the electrical. There's so many issues you have identified. That's unfortunate to go so far into a beautiful car and idea, & be so far away from done. I enjoy how you can ID all the plugs & what they do just by sight - lots of time involved in making it look that easy. This will be amazing when it's done.

Jon, from what you show us, someone apparently Mickey-Mouse the electrical system(term we technicians use loosely). Glad to see that you got some of the electrical corrected & repaired. I know it is gonna take time & patience to get it solve & running in the right manner. Keep up the good work friend.

John I'd be careful with the wiring the way it is and disconnect the battery when not working on the car or away from the shop for any length of time. It looks too sketchy until you've worked your magic on it.

@SRT_DRE

Nah, it’s not a big project. Once you remove the interior and expose the wiring, it’ll take about an hour to rewire everything. When I installed a harness in my Challenger I did it in 20 minutes. I installed a engine harness with the engine in the car in under an hour. If you have all the parts then it’s easy.

Not quite understanding all the problems. Looks like a great restomod but I own a 69 Camaro restomod with LSA motor. Almost everything is plug _adapted these days. The hardest part of building the car is body mods fitment and painting and the hours of work involved with these attributes. Super cool car tho love the content and hope it’s up and running soon. A car like that is definitely a labor of love and no matter how well it’s done the problems never seem to end lol.

reminds me of an 82 Trans Am I tried to buy from a dealer's used car lot in the early 90s. Wiring all over the place. It was probably taken in on a "push pull drag" trade in deal. They want $2000 and were not going to let it go for less.

Yhea the first thing the person should have done when they started to take the hellcat apart is take pictures and notes about the wiring! Maybe it wasn't a complete car and it was just parts? They picked up to do the swap? I don't know if it will ever be a good reliable swap? With out it being stripped down and re done? It was a good idea but with reality? Might just burn to the ground one day? Which would be a shame.
