I just watched 8 other videos on installing this pump. They all confused me. This one is straightforward and clear. Super easy to understand. Thank you for this great video.

having some trouble. which way would you turn the screw on the booster to DECREASE the pressure coming out of the pump if it's too much?
@BRStv3 жыл бұрын
You'll turn the set screw counter clockwise to decrease pressure. Just keep in mind that the screw will only do so much. If you need further pressure reduction, you may need a pressure reducing valve like this Watts valve. www.bulkreefsupply.com/watts-pressure-reducing-valve.html

If I have this pump and shut off do I still need the autoshut off on the ro membrane? And do I need to need to change the flow restriction?
@BRStv4 жыл бұрын
You shouldn't need to change the flow restrictor unless you change the size of RO membrane that you're using. The job of the auto shut off valve is to cut the waste water from flowing when a float valve is triggered, so I would suggest leaving that on the system, even if you have a booster pump and pressure switch.

GREAT VIDEO !!! Have a link for showing the disassembly of the pump, maintenance parts, things to check, etc? Have a feeling either there is sediment in my pump ( even with a regular prefilter) or the shut off sensor needs to be adjusted.
@mizerrocker7 жыл бұрын
Talked to Aquatac they told me to install pump after the three sediment filters and before the membrane then no need to buy extra sediment filter .

Which is efficient the RO pump is feeding the RO membrane or put the booster pump before the first stage? (Before first stage there is a 5micron sediment filter) Source > Sediment > Booster Pump > First Stage.

What’s the optimal psi for the rodi system ? In finding that my filter canisters are leaking from the top idk why 🤦🏻♂️
@BRStv3 жыл бұрын
We usually suggest at least 50 PSI, but no greater than 90 PSI. If you're in that range and the canister is still leaking, there is probably an issue with the o-ring or the canister may not be tight.

Hi guys. Never been able to get an answer to this.... i have an unmodified Vyair RO50MP. It works fine but when the float valve shuts off the flow, the pump starts back up again every 30 seconds or so and I can hear some waste water produced each time. It isn't a major issue but quite irritating as the unit is constantly clicking on and off. Is it supposed to this? As said, the unit works fine and does shut off... just the pump continues to 'cycle'. I've asked the manufacturer but never got a useful answer!

What's the optimal psi to run or rather max psi to run a 100gpd rodi system with a pump like this. As you mentioned these pumps come with 115psi from the factory and I dont want truin the rodi with such a high pressure but at the same token I want to have a pressure safe enough to get optimal product results without compromising the integrity of the system.

im currently using my ro system for drinking water i have an aqutec pump and i seem to be having a little trouble with the tso valve it dosent kick in until the tank is empty i need it to kick in sooner so i dont run out of water i have it hooked up between the tank and last carbon filter

I see you installed this before all the prefilters. I've read elsewhere it should be installed directly before the ro membrane. Can you comment on that?

Hey Miguel, There are a few things that could cause the booster pump to not turn off when your float or solenoid valve is triggered. There is probably too much info to share via a KZbin comment, but feel free to reach out to our customer service team if you'd like to troubleshoot this; we'd be happy to help! I can't find the pre-filter strainer for the connection before the booster pump on your guy web site? Will you show me on the BRS site?
@Harlizzlee9 жыл бұрын
i would like to have at a minimum of 50 psi holding pressure (i have my ro going to my refrigerator ice maker, and the low pressure burned out the solenoid and i just replaced it, and now it's making ice). i have a booster pump and switch, which shuts off at 40psi. it'll drop to 20psi or lower before it starts up again. so, i turned the allen key but now it seems to run every 30 minutes to about 60 psi, but the pressure eventually drops to 40psi and starts up again. input is around 70psi. should i get a permeate pump? will this increase the holding pressure on the tank side? my tank is set to 7psi btw. thanks in advance!

Will this device filter out salt from seawater as well? So that I'll be able to drink seawater? And can I run this with a car battery? Or better yet - can I run this manually, for instance with a bicycle pump, instead of using electricity?

@BulkReefSupplyCom the highest i've seen it at ta constant rate has been 45 with everything off, no washer/shower/running taps etc.... but avg is around 35-40 id like to see at least 75-90 psi with the pump which im sure, but the 4 stage with DI can handle over that right? and the pump has a safety feature to not go over 115 right? i hope the pump helps a lot and im sure it will :)

my water pressure varies 45 to 70 PSI so i have purchased the 8800 to maintain the recommended 65 plus PSI for water saver RO-DI BRS system. The RO-DI empties into holding tanks (1 fresh and 1 salt) and I would like to pump from basement to upstairs, first floor, to a shutoff valve . What pump would you recommend.

Hopefully someone can help. I purchased a booster pump with a pressure switch. I installed it exactly as shown but the booster pump continues running no matter if I tighten or untighten the screw on the pressure switch. Most all RO systems have the same configuration when installing the booster pump. I followed the instructions exactly. I am stumped. Any ideas anyone?

finally someone that can explain how this thing works!.... thank you for the video. Question: I have a 300gpd spartan rodi system, a what psi should it be at? and If I get the same pump you demonstrated (i believe it is a 8800), at what number should it be adjusted if I have to adjusted at all?
@Senorlatulla8 жыл бұрын
thanks dude... so obviously the pump itself will have to be adjusted because of its factory settings (125psi, which can cause stress/leaks in the RODI system)

Man why is the hobby so dang expensive. I don't even have a reef set up yet and I feel overwhelmed from the costs of trying to keep up with this hobby. Recently my city changed how it treats our water and now I don't feel tap water is safe anymore for my fish. I get brief ammonia spikes after water changes and I treat my water with Seachem Prime which supposedly detoxifies ammonia and chloramines, I don't doubt the water conditioner works, I just believe my tap water has become far too toxic to use. I been looking at the BRS RO/DI 5 stage premium/premium plus 150GPD units but they're so expensive $269-$329 and I'd definitely need a booster pump which is +$100. Overall over $400 for a unit just so I can perform my water changes on a simple freshwater set up is just not cool. I do plan on setting up a planted/shrimp tank so the RO/DI will come in handy and maybe 2023 a reef set up after I recovered from spending so much in 2021 since at the moment I have all the gear necessary for my next 2 tank set ups. RO/DI unit is becoming very necessary as my current tank is 100 gallons and I change about 40 gallons a week so buying water at my local fish store is just not possible. I plan setting up a 55 gallon something? If not I will hold out on the 55 and wait until they release the 75 gallon on sale again. I have a 29 gallon and 20Long ready for a planted set up, just need to buy a stand for these 2 but I might look for metal rack since they are around the same size and will be similar set ups both using CO2
@BRStv3 жыл бұрын
It might be worth considering an RO only system if you're using it for freshwater. We have a 4 stage RO only that has a single membrane (which might make a booster pump not necessary for you), which is much much less expensive than a system with all of the bells and whistles. Plus, you can always add on canisters later when you want to add DI resin for your future reef.
